Visualizing the dynamical behavior of Wonderland
IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 1997The article concentrates on the visualization of a four dimensional continuous dynamical system, the Wonderland model. This system poses some interesting analysis challenges. Its temporal evolution, for example, is characterized by slow-fast dynamics. This means that some of the system variables vary much faster than others.

Dynamic behaviors of microtubules in cytosol
Journal of Biomechanics, 2009Highly anisotropic microtubules (MTs) immersed in cytosol are a central part of the cytoskeleton in eukaryotic cells. The dynamic behaviors of an MT-cytosol system are of major interest in biomechanics community. Such a solid-fluid system is characterized by a Reynolds number of the order 10(-3) and a slip ionic layer formed at the MT-cytosol interface.

This chapter deals with the experimental techniques commonly employed to characterize the dynamic behavior of rock materials. The dynamic testing machines are illustrated, focusing on the strain rate level achievable and the loading scheme. The main dynamic properties of common rock materials are discussed, with reference to the corresponding dynamic ...

Structure and dynamic behavior of nucleosomes
Current Opinion in Genetics & Development, 2003Genetic studies have identified residues in the structured regions of the histones that are critically involved in the formation of heterochromatin. Any investigation of the events that regulate access to the chromatin substrate must take into account the dynamic nature of the nucleosome, and the regulated inter-conversion between various levels of ...
