Measurement of the Modulus of Dynamic Elasticity of Staple Fibers

Textile Research Journal, 1961
A description is given of an apparatus with the aid of which the modulus of dynamic elasticity of fibers can be determined at about 1000 cycles/sec. as a function of the strain. In principle the dynamic elasticity constant of the fiber is determined by measuring the resonance frequency of a cantilever spring which is loaded with the fiber.

Effect of film thickness on the dynamic elastic modulus of cellophane

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: General Papers, 1965
AbstractThe effect of film thickness on the dynamic modulus of cellophane has been investigated to inquire into structural differences that may exist in cellophane, resulting from different conditions of regeneration. Modulus measurements on different types of platecast and commercial films at first indicated a decrease in modulus with an increase in ...

Influence of Water Content on Dynamic Elastic Modulus of Concrete

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Water content is one of key effect factors on the dynamic elastic modulus, which is an important damage assessment index of concrete structures induced by freeze-thaw cycles, fire and chemical attacks. Through the ultrasonic and bending vibration test, the regularity of dynamic elastic modulus changed with the water content of concrete specimens was ...

Dynamic method of measuring torsional modulus of elasticity

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1962
A dynamic method of measuring torsional modulus of elasticity, at frequencies below 250 c/s, has been developed and has been used to measure this property for commercially pure specimens of copper, silver and constantan. The results were found to be reproducible to better than 0.8%.

Measurement of the dynamic elastic modulus of short staple fibers

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1974
A description is given of the equipment and measurement techniques which have been developed for the determination of the dynamic elastic modulus of staple fibers of length 25 mm or less. The dynamic elastic modulus, often called the sonic modulus, is determined by means of the pulse propagation method with the aid of a specially designed constant ...

In situ observation of dynamic elastic modulus in polypyrrole actuators

Polymer, 2008
Abstract Polypyrrole is a leading conducting polymer actuator, but the factors that influence its performance when actuated under load in devices (such as the polymer stiffness) are not yet fully understood. To this end, we have probed the dynamic elastic modulus of polypyrrole in situ during actuation in a variety of electrolytes.

The variation of the dynamic elastic modulus by a propagating edge crack

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1993
Abstract The rapidly propagating crack tip in a plane-stress specimen causes a drastic change in the mechanical properties of the material around it. The static values of the elastic moduli and Poisson's ratios become variable quantities during the passage of the crack, sometimes taking very different values.

DYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF ELASTIC MODULUS IN SOME HETEROGENEOUS GELS

Journal of Texture Studies, 1990
Study of phase difference and resonance methods for longitudinal vibration and the phase difference method for the shear mode showed that the dynamic moduli of clear homogeneous hydrocolloid gels were independent of frequency. However, those of heterogeneous gels including solid particles, such as agargelatin mixed gel or shiratama mochi and ...
