The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

Numerical Approximation for Nonlinear Gas Dynamic Equation
Laplace transform and new homotopy perturbation methods are adopted to study gas dynamic equation analytically. The solutions introduced in this study can be used to obtain the closed form of the solutions if they are required.

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

The asymptotic properties of the dynamic equation with a delayed argument [PDF]
In this paper, we present some asymptotic results related to the scalar dynamic equation with a delayed argument. Using the time scale calculus we generalize some results known in the differential and difference case to the more general dynamic case.

Behavior of solutions of a third-order dynamic equation on time scales
In this paper, we will establish some sufficient conditions which guarantee that every solution of the third-order nonlinear dynamic equation (r1(t)(r2(t)xΔ(t))Δ)Δ+P(t,x(t),xΔ(t))+F(t,x(t))=0 oscillates or converges to zero on an arbitrary time scale T.

Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae amino acid transporter Lyp1 has a broad substrate spectrum
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yeast Amino acid Transporter family members mediate the import of amino acids, ranging from substrate specialists to generalists. Here, we show that the specialist transporter, Lyp1, has a broader substrate spectrum than previously described, with affinity constants spanning from micromolar to millimolar.

A limit set trichotomy for order-preserving systems on time scales
In this paper we derive a limit set trichotomy for abstract order-preserving 2-parameter semiflows in normal cones of strongly ordered Banach spaces. Additionally, to provide an example, Muller's theorem is generalized to dynamic equations on arbitrary ...
