The addition of an anti-rotation screw to the dynamic hip screw.
Acta orthopaedica Belgica, 2020The aim of this study is to assess if there is a difference in outcomes between a dynamic hip screw with or without an anti-rotation screw in the treatment of hip fractures. All patients with an intracapsular hip fracture who underwent dynamic hip screw osteosynthesis between January 2010 and December 2013 in three Dutch hospitals were reviewed ...

Accuracy of Lag Screw Placement for the Dynamic Hip Screw and the Cephalomedullary Nail
Orthopedics, 2009The outcome of peritrochanteric fracture fixation is dependent on lag screw placement in the femoral head. The dynamic hip screw technique permits initial, independent lag screw placement, while the cephalomedullary nail dictates its positioning. The objective of this study was to compare the accuracy of lag screw placement for both implant types.

Treatment of cutout of a lag screw of a dynamic hip screw in an intertrochanteric fracture
Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, 1998Sixteen consecutive patients with cutout of a lag screw of a dynamic hip screw fixation in an intertrochanteric fracture were treated with reinsertion of a lag screw, bone cement supplementation in the neck-trochanter, and subtrochanteric valgus osteotomy. Postoperatively, patients were permitted to ambulate with protected weight-bearing.

Accuracy of valgus osteotomy using dynamic hip screw
Injury, 2017Non-union of neck femur is a common but difficult situation to manage especially in young adults. There are two main options of arthroplasty or osteotomy. The aim of this study was to assess the results of intertrochanteric valgus osteotomy in non-union femoral neck fractures. We present a study of 44 cases of neck femur non-union including untreated ...

Cement restriction technique in dynamic hip screw revisions
Injury, 2002When revising dynamic hip screw fixation to arthroplasty, the defect left by the lag screw in the proximal femur poses a problem for cement containment, with the potential for sub-optimal cementation. We recommend the use of a bioresorbable cement restrictor as a simple and effective means to overcome this problem.

Radiation exposure during dynamic hip screw operation
Injury, 1985Exposure to radiation by surgeon and patient was measured in ten cases during insertion of a dynamic hip screw, using image intensified screening. There were low levels of irradiation of the thyroid and eyes of the surgeon. However, the dominant hand of the surgeon was often exposed to higher levels.

[Management of hip fractures using a dynamic hip screw].
Magyar traumatologia, orthopaedia es helyreallito sebeszet, 1989Authors describe the history of the dynamic hip screw and analyse the hip fracture. The operative technique of the DHS is described in details. In an analysis of the material of the Wilhelminenspital it is stressed that in the last years the DHS became dominant in the treatment of hip fractures.

New Technique for Revising Dynamic Hip Screw Fixations With Lag Screw In Situ
Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, 2010Salvage total hip arthroplasty for failed Dynamic hip screw fixation has widely been advocated as a viable treatment option with successful functional outcomes. However, when revising a dynamic hip screw, removal of the lag screw can pose problems in terms of difficulty and risk of iatrogenic fractures.

[Intertrochanteric fractures of the hip treated with dynamic hip screws (DHS)].
Chirurgia narzadow ruchu i ortopedia polska, 2001The history and concept of sliding fixation is presented. Treatment results of 72 cases with 76 intertrochanteric fractures treated with DHS were analysed. Fractures were classified according to the Kyle scale into 4 different types. 61 males and 11 women age ranging from 46 to 72 years (average age: 65 years) were treated surgically.
