Dynamic hip screw versus DHS blade

The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 2011
We biomechanically investigated whether the standard dynamic hip screw (DHS) or the DHS blade achieves better fixation in bone with regard to resistance to pushout, pullout and torsional stability. The experiments were undertaken in an artificial bone substrate in the form of polyurethane foam blocks with predefined mechanical properties.

Gotfried percutaneous compression plating (PCCP) versus dynamic hip screw (DHS) in hip fractures: blood loss and 1-year mortality

Aging Clinical and Experimental Research, 2014
Intertrochanteric fractures are among the most common fracture in elderly and are correlated with an average 1-year mortality of 25 %. Increased mortality after hip fracture could be related to blood loss and comorbidities. We compared two groups of patients treated with percutaneous compression plating (PCCP) and dynamic hip screw (DHS) with the ...

The treatment of trochanteric and femoral neck fractures using the dynamic hip screw (DHS)

Orthopaedics and Traumatology, 1992
Surgical Principles The goal of treating fractures in the trochanteric region is to restore the medial support in line with Shenton’s arch. The function of the compression trabeculae is insured by a screw introduced into the femoral head and neck. The shaft of the screw slides in a tunnel which forms part of the side plate.

MOREL-LAVALLÉE LESION INDUCED BY DYNAMIC HIP SCREW (DHS) CUT OUT: A CASE REPORT AND LITERATURE REVIEW

Orthopaedic Proceedings, 2023
A Morel-Lavallee lesion (MLL) is a benign cystic lesion that occurs due to injury to the soft-tissue envelope's perforating vascular and lymphatic systems, resulting in a distinctive hemolymphatic fluid accumulation between the tissue layers. The MLL has the potential to make a significant impact on the treatment of orthopaedic injuries.A 79-year-old ...

[Intertrochanteric fractures of the hip treated with dynamic hip screws (DHS)].

Chirurgia narzadow ruchu i ortopedia polska, 2001
The history and concept of sliding fixation is presented. Treatment results of 72 cases with 76 intertrochanteric fractures treated with DHS were analysed. Fractures were classified according to the Kyle scale into 4 different types. 61 males and 11 women age ranging from 46 to 72 years (average age: 65 years) were treated surgically.

[Initial results with the AO Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS)].

Zeitschrift fur Orthopadie und ihre Grenzgebiete, 1985
The report is based on a follow-up of over 54 osteosyntheses employing the Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) of the AO on the proximal femur. The patients, of an average age of 72 years, exhibited the following lesions: fractures of 7 femoral necks, 43 fractures in the pertrochanteric region, 3 reverse fractures and 1 subtrochanteric metastasis.

Cement-augmented dynamic hip screw (DHS) to manage intertrochanteric fractures (ITFs) in the elderly: a prospective case series

Current Orthopaedic Practice, 2021
Background: The purpose of this study was to report early results in managing intertrochanteric fractures (ITF) in an elderly patient cohort using a cement augmented dynamic hip screw (DHS) by a relatively easy technique with cheap instruments available in any operative room. Methods:

[The dynamic hip screw (DHS) in femoral neck fractures].

Helvetica chirurgica acta, 1993
Out of 224 patients with femoral neck fractures, 40 patients have been treated by ORIF with the dynamic hip screw, whereas 27 have been fixed by large cancellous bone screws and 148 femoral heads were replaced by a prosthesis. The ORIF with dynamic hip screw has been performed as an emergency intervention within 6.2 hours after accident.

Application of the Dynamic Condylar Screw (DCS)- and Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) Implant Systems in the Horse

Veterinary and Comparative Orthopaedics and Traumatology, 1988
The surgical technique for application of the dynamic condylar screw (DCS)- and dynamic hip screw (DHS) implant systems is described and then illustrated by 3 clinical cases. The DCS/DHS system ist stronger and more versatile than the regular DCP or angled blade plate (ABP).
