Eye-controlled ''teletypewriter'' [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Oculometer provides dynamic measurement of subject's look direction, and its outputs can be used to generate visual display of his look pattern and/or to cause equipment operation associated with his lookpoint at given times.

Spin accumulation in forward-biased MnAs/GaAs Schottky diodes

open access: yes, 2004
We describe a new means for electrically creating spin polarization in semiconductors. In contrast to spin injection of electrons by tunneling through a reverse-biased Schottky barrier, we observe spin accumulation at the metal/semiconductor interface of

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Intelligent Assistant with Artificial Intelligence for Language Learning

open access: yesApplied Sciences
An intelligent assistant with artificial intelligence (AI) for language learning was developed. A dynamic user interface and a supervised feedback module using web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript ES6+) and Python v3.9 for supporting language ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Dynamic growth of an interfacial crack between the two anisotropic materials [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2014
In this paper is considered behavior of the stress field around the tip of a crack that propagates dynamically along the interface between the two anisotropic materials.

Reaction Dynamics at Liquid Interfaces

open access: yesAnnual Review of Physical Chemistry, 2015
The liquid interface is a narrow, highly anisotropic region, characterized by rapidly varying density, polarity, and molecular structure. I review several aspects of interfacial solvation and show how these affect reactivity at liquid/liquid interfaces.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Normal scaling in globally conserved interface-controlled coarsening of fractal clusters

open access: yes, 2000
Globally conserved interface-controlled coarsening of fractal clusters exhibits dynamic scale invariance and normal scaling. This is demonstrated by a numerical solution of the Ginzburg-Landau equation with a global conservation law.
