Synthesis and characterization of styrene-co-divinylbenzene-graft-linseed oil by free radical polymerization

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2008
A variety of opaque white to light yellow polymeric material have been prepared by two methods, one copolymerization of styrene (ST), divinylbenzene (DVB), and grafting of linseed oil (LIN), and the second involves the copolymerization of the same ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Dynamic Analysis and Mechanical Structure Improvement of Submersible Rotor

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In order to enhance interference immunity and reduce the breakage of rotating shafts (rotors) which happens frequently especially in submersible permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) applications, first a typical rotor structure is established ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

304L stainless steel fatigue evaluation using dynamic mechanical analysis

open access: yesUbiquity Proceedings, 2018
In order to evaluate the fatigue effects on 304L Stainless Steel, the internal friction or damping of the material have been investigated by means of dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), using single cantilever test modes.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Influence of Hydroxyapatite Crystals on the Viscoelastic Behavior of Poly(vinyl alcohol) Braid Systems

open access: yesBiomimetics
Composites of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) in the shape of braids, in combination with crystals of hydroxyapatite (HAp), were analyzed to perceive the influence of this bioceramic on both the quasi-static and viscoelastic behavior under tensile loading ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Surface and thermomechanical characterization of polyurethane networks based on poly(dimethylsiloxane) and hyperbranched polyester

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2013
Two series of polyurethane (PU) networks based on Boltorn® hyperbranched polyester (HBP) and hydroxyethoxy propyl terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane) (EO-PDMS) or hydroxy propyl terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane) (HPPDMS), were synthesized.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
