Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Electrical and Mechanical Properties of new Recyclable Power Cable Insulation Materials based upon Polyethylene Blends [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Chemically crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) has been used as electrical insulation for power cables since the 1970s due to its favourable combination of electrical and mechanical properties.

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

The thermo-mechanical performance of glass-fibre reinforced Polyamide 66 during glycol-water hydrolysis conditioning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Injection moulded glass-fibre reinforced polyamide 66 composites based on two glass fibre products with different sizing formulations and unreinforced polymer samples have been characterised by dynamic mechanical analysis and unnotched Charpy impact ...

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Combination of Tung oil and Natural Rubber Latex in PVA as Water Based Coatings for Paperboard Application

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
This research is focused on the preparation of the PVA/TO/NRL coatings for paperboard by using poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as substance and blending with Tung oil (TO) and/or natural rubber latex (NRL) in order to enhance water resistance and dynamic ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Dynamic analysis and criterion evaluation on rockburst considering the fractured dissipative energy

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
As one of the dynamic disasters of deep mining, rockburst significantly affects the safety of underground environment especially at great depth. First, the elastic energy and dissipative energy are deduced to characterize rockburst process separately ...
