Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

A new test methodology based on structural resonance for mode I fatigue delamination growth in an unidirectional composite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A specific device has been set up to test by vibration resonance the mode I fatigue delamination growth onset of composite laminates. This test system, based on the DCB test specimen, is a mass-spring-specimen dynamic system designed to resonate.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

A Diode-Side-Pumped Dynamic Fundamental Mode Nd:YAG Laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A fundamental mode Nd YAG laser is experimentally demonstrated with a stagger pumped laser module and a special resonator. The rod is pumped symmetrically by staggered bar modules.

A New Integral Second-Order Terminal Sliding Mode Control with Time Delay Estimation for an Exoskeleton Robot with Dynamics Uncertainties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper presents a new Integral Second-Order Terminal Sliding Mode Control incorporating Time Delay Estimation applied to passive rehabilitation protocols of an exoskeleton robot with dynamics uncertainties and unknown bounded disturbances. The use of

Heuristics and Biases in Travel Mode Choice [PDF]

open access: yes
This study applies experimental methods to analyze travel mode choice. Two different scenarios are considered. In the first scenario, subjects have to decide whether to commute by car or by metro.

Improved model predictive current control for multi‐mode four‐switch buck–boost converter considering parameter mismatch

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, 2023
Four‐switch Buck‐Boost (FSBB) converter usually adopts multi‐mode control methods in applications requiring both voltage step‐up and step‐down. Model predictive current control (MPCC) can improve the dynamic performance and simplify multi‐mode switching ...

Experimental Study of the Direct Drive Hydraulic System with the Torque Mode

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
The torque mode is more suitable for the direct drive 6 degree of freedom (6-DOF) parallel mechanism than the speed mode that both dynamic coupling and current coupling among motors are easily solved, but its key parameters and dynamic characteristics ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
