GeoCongress 2008, 2008Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) is produced at temperatures in the range of 30uF to 100uF (17uC to 56uC) lower than the traditional hot mix asphalt (HMA). It has a number of benefits including reducing energy consumption, emissions from burning fuels, and volatiles generated from the heated asphalt binder at the production plant at the paving site.

Dynamic on-line sensing of sheet modulus of elasticity
Conference Record of 2008 54th Annual Pulp and Paper Industry Technical Conference, 2008This paper proposes and evaluates a methodology for robust, on-line estimation of the modulus of elasticity of an elastic strip transported through a multi-span system. The estimation algorithm is based on a previously developed robust sensorless sheet tension estimation, and the computation of speed draws using 1024-pulse encoders operating in 4x mode.
