The modulus of elasticity of concrete given by ACI Code 318-83 is thought of as secant modulus under static loads. It is more appropriate to use modulus of elasticity of concrete measured by a dynamic system, where dynamic loads are involved. The transverse vibration and elastic wave propagation methods are used to get the dynamic elastic modulus.

The Dynamic Shear Modulus of Bone in Dependence on the Form

Torsional testing of fresh cortical bovine bone showed highly divergent shear moduli at various sites in the middle part of the diaphysis of the right metacarpus. Two hundred samples taken from twenty-five bones were investigated with a free oscillating torsional pendulum to determine the dynamic shear modulus.

IT has been found that a steel ball dropped on to a thick flat plate of ‘Perspex’ produces an electrostatic charge over the contact area. This effect has been investigated with the view of developing a simple method for estimating the dynamic modulus and dynamic yield stress.
