Physical nature of metals longevity in the dynamic failure phenomenon

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
Methods of non-linear physics allowed determination of universal attributes of non-equilibrium systems, conditioned by collective effects and self-organization phenomena in the arising dissipative structures.

Uncertainty, fragility, resilience

open access: yesAgathón, 2019
The consequences of climate change and the recurrent shortage of vital resources produce an extreme and growing fragility of all systems, both biological and technical, subjected to continuous and increasingly less predictable disturbances.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Dynamics of Information as Natural Computation [PDF]

open access: yesInformation, 2011
Processes considered rendering information dynamics have been studied, among others in: questions and answers, observations, communication, learning, belief revision, logical inference, game-theoretic interactions and computation. This article will put the computational approaches into a broader context of natural computation, where information ...

The Dynamics of Natural Plasmodium falciparum Infections [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Natural immunity to Plasmodium falciparum has been widely studied, but its effects on parasite dynamics are poorly understood. Acquisition and clearance rates of untreated infections are key elements of the dynamics of malaria, but estimating these parameters is challenging because of frequent super-infection and imperfect detectability of parasites ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Dynamic nature of SecA and its associated proteins in Escherichia coli.

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
Mechanical properties such as physical constraint and pushing of chromosomes are thought to be important for chromosome segregation in Escherichia coli and it could be mediated by a hypothetical molecular tether.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
