Dynamic spectrum managed passive optical networks
IEEE Communications Magazine, 2011This article introduces the idea of employing dynamic spectrum management to passive optical network systems. The primary motivations of this system are to enhance the bandwidth, split ratio, and loss budget of existing PONs, without mandating the replacement of the ONU and passive optics.

Traditional frequency management divides the available frequency spectrum in small slices and assigns those slices to one or two homogeneous user groups [1]. Prior to this, compatibility studies are performed to avoid interference. The results of these studies are reflected in spectrum regulation and equipment standardization.

Dynamic Spectrum Hole Management in Cognitive Radio
2011 4th IFIP International Conference on New Technologies, Mobility and Security, 2011One of the major concerns of cognitive radio, is to be flexible and dynamic enough to, on one hand, minimize interferences with primary users, and on the other hand, guarantee the requested Quality of Service (QoS) level for cognitive transmissions. This paper addresses the problem of Spectrum Hole reassignment (SH reassignment) when the primary user ...

Cognitive Management Strategies for Dynamic Spectrum Access
2017The Cognitive Radio (CR) paradigm represents an innovative solution to mitigate the spectrum scarcity problem. Enabling a Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA), it conciliates the existing conflict between the ever-increasing spectrum demand and the currently inefficient spectrum utilization.

A spectrum map based dynamic spectrum management framework
2015 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS 2015), 2015Dynamic spectrum management (DSM) of cognitive radio networks (CRNs) has been a hotspot for spectrum management departments as well as research community to alleviate spectrum scarcity problem. With the motive of facilitating CRNs with spectrum-related information with low cost in different scenarios including infrastructure less environment, this ...

Throughput and Delay of DSL Dynamic Spectrum Management with Dynamic Arrivals
IEEE GLOBECOM 2008 - 2008 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2008In modern DSL networks, crosstalk among different lines (i.e., users) is the major source of performance degradation. Dynamic spectrum management (DSM) refers to a set of techniques to mitigate the effect of crosstalk leading to spectacular performance gains.
