Actin dynamics controlled by IqgC, a RasGAP at the crossroads between the IQGAP and fungal GAP1 families

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.

On Trade-Off Relationship between Static and Dynamic Lateral Stabilities of Articulated Heavy Vehicles

open access: yesDesigns
Articulated heavy vehicles exhibit poor lateral stability, which may lead to unstable motion modes, e.g., trailer-sway and jackknifing, causing severe accidents.

Transcriptional regulation of neuropeptide receptors underlies context‐dependent adaptation in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under environmental changes, the expression level of neuropeptide (NP) and neuropeptide receptor (NPR) genes changes to confer context‐dependent adaptation to the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. Through finding more regulatory elements in the NPR genes in comparison with their ligands (NPs), we found that NPR‐biased transcriptional regulation ...

A unified model for Duchenne muscular dystrophy gene involvement in cancer: context‐dependent tumour suppression and oncogenicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We propose a context‐dependent model where the Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) gene acts as a tumour suppressor in aggressive tumours and as an oncogene in less aggressive ones. We propose this model as a unified framework to explain the opposing survival associations with DMD expression and to guide experimental exploration of the dual role of DMD ...

Effects of Instability Neuromuscular Training Using an Inertial Load of Water on the Balance Ability of Healthy Older Women: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesJournal of Functional Morphology and Kinesiology
The reflexive responses to resist external forces and maintain posture result from the coordination between the vestibular system, muscle, tendon, and joint proprioceptors, and vision.

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...
