Dynamic stability of cracked columns; the stiffness reduction method

open access: yesScientia Iranica, 2012
AbstractA new formulation for the dynamic stability of cracked columns is proposed. In this formulation, a differential equation governing the free vibration of a cracked column subjected to compressive axial force is derived. The solution of the proposed equation needs only the end conditions for its solution (similar to that of intact beam columns ...

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

Dynamic Stiffness Effect of Mechanical Components on Gear Mesh Misalignment

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
In this work, we propose a method that considers the dynamic elastic stiffness of mechanical components in a quasi-static condition, and we investigate this parameter’s effect on gear mesh misalignment.

Some properties of bolted joints [PDF]

open access: yes
The roles of surface roughness and of surface flatness in determining the properties of structural joints are discussed. A method of measuring the effects of errors of form on joint stiffness is given.

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

An advanced finite element system for static and dynamic analysis-with application to the design of radial impellers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
An advanced finite-element package, tailored to the static and dynamic analysis of radial impellers has been produced. Two families of new elements, one for thin and thick plates and the other for thin and thick shells, have been derived ...

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.
