A Bayesian Optimization Algorithm for the Optimization of Mooring System Design Using Time-Domain Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Dynamic analysis can consider the complex behavior of mooring systems. However, the relatively long analysis time of the dynamic analysis makes it difficult to use in the design of mooring systems.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Research on Time-Domain Fatigue Analysis Method for Automotive Components Considering Performance Degradation

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Automotive components’ exposure to prolonged random loading not only accumulates fatigue damage but also causes material stiffness degradation. The degradation of material mechanical properties leads to stress redistribution within the structure, which ...

A Novel Surrogate Model-Based Solving Framework for the Black-Box Dynamic Co-Design and Optimization Problem in the Dynamic System

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
When encountering the black-box dynamic co-design and optimization (BDCDO) problem in the multidisciplinary dynamic system, the finite difference technique is inefficient or even infeasible to provide approximate numerical gradient information for the ...

Resource-Constrained Adaptive Search and Tracking for Sparse Dynamic Targets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper considers the problem of resource-constrained and noise-limited localization and estimation of dynamic targets that are sparsely distributed over a large area. We generalize an existing framework [Bashan et al, 2008] for adaptive allocation of

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Computational fluid dynamics analysis and extended adaptive hybrid functions model-based design optimization of an explosion-proof safety valve

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2022
Extremely complex flow channels and multi-parameter, highly nonlinear thermal fluid–structure interactions are the main factors restricting the exploration mechanism and optimal design of explosion-proof valves.

AI-Based Surrogate Models for Multibody Dynamics Systems

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series
Abstract Advancements in computer sciences and technology allow for implementation of detailed numerical models of a system such as the Finite Element (FE) or Multibody Dynamics (MBD) models. Complex mechanical systems can easily be modelled in detail, yielding accurate results.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
