Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Dynamical behavior of damaged railway sleeper subjected to moving loads: Parametric study of crack properties

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics
This study investigates the dynamic responses of cracked beams placed on a visco-elastic foundation and subjected to moving loads. Utilizing the Euler–Bernoulli beam model, the behavior of the beams is characterized, accounting for multiple open cracks ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Vehicle-tube coupled dynamical modeling method for ultra-high-speed evacuated-tube maglev systems

open access: yes机车电传动
To address the heavy computational burden and the complex vehicle-tube coupled vibration characteristics in modeling ultra-long tube dynamics for ultra-high-speed evacuated-tube maglev systems, this paper proposes a vehicle-tube coupled dynamical ...

Dynamic Behavior of Satellite and Its Solar Arrays Subject to Large-Scale Antenna Deployment Shock

open access: yesAerospace
Satellites should be equipped with more and more deployable, large, flexible appendages to improve their service efficiency and reduce launch costs. The spring-driven deployment method of flexible appendages has been widely applied and generates great ...
