MusicFace: Music-driven expressive singing face synthesis [PDF]
It remains an interesting and challenging problem to synthesize a vivid and realistic singing face driven by music. In this paper, we present a method for this task with natural motions for the lips, facial expression, head pose, and eyes.

Analysis of Musical Dynamics in Vocal Performances
Dynamics are one of the fundamental tools of expressivity in a performance. While the usage of this tool is highly subjective, a systematic methodology to derive loudness markings based on a performance can be highly beneficial. With this goal in mind, this paper is a first step towards developing a methodology to automatically transcribe dynamic ...

Cross‐cultural analysis of the correlation between musical elements and emotion
In a cross‐cultural context, exploring musical elements' cultural specificity and universality that affect various types of music is conducive to personalised emotion recognition. In this study, high‐level musical elements are introduced to explore their

Dynamics of musical expression [PDF]
Various aspects of the dynamics of musical expression in terms of both acoustic and perceptual parameters were studied. In one study, duets of soprano orchestral winds performed brief musical passages in unison and in simple diatonic harmony. Perceptual spaces, obtained by scaling, were compared with acoustical analyses.

Musical identities in action: Embodied, situated, and dynamic [PDF]
This article provides a critical overview of musical identities as a research topic. A broad distinction between identities in music (IIM) and music in identities (MII) highlights how musical engagement is central to identity construction.

Neural dynamics of predictive timing and motor engagement in music listening
Why do humans spontaneously dance to music? To test the hypothesis that motor dynamics reflect predictive timing during music listening, we created melodies with varying degrees of rhythmic predictability (syncopation) and asked participants to rate ...

Deep Music Information Dynamics
Music comprises of a set of complex simultaneous events organized in time. In this paper we introduce a novel framework that we call Deep Musical Information Dynamics, which combines two parallel streams - a low rate latent representation stream that is assumed to capture the dynamics of a thought process contrasted with a higher rate information ...
