Simulating Agroecology Policy Options for the Resilience of Smallholder Food Security to Climate Shocks

open access: yesClimate Resilience and Sustainability, Volume 5, Issue 2, December 2026.
Climate shocks and the agroecology–resilience nexus of smallholders. Summary of key findings: Agroecology increases smallholder resilience capacity by 8.7% in the short term under a decreased rainfall scenario, a projected 11% decline in precipitation reduces resilience by 5.6% and 14.2% in the short and long terms, respectively, and a policy‐induced ...

Emotional pathways to aggression: An experience sampling study of early adolescents

open access: yesJournal of Research on Adolescence, Volume 36, Issue 4, December 2026.
Abstract The high prevalence of aggressive behavior among adolescents represents one of the most pressing challenges facing society today, contributing to significant social, emotional, and academic consequences. The present study used longitudinal data collected via the Experience Sampling Method (ESM) to investigate physical and relational aggression

The Anomalously High Boiling Point of Water Revisited

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 11, November 2026.
Pairwise interactions between binary hydrides depend mainly on size, not dipole moment. Small hydrides experience less steric repulsion, bringing molecules closer together and strengthening hydrogen bonds, which explains their high boiling points. Typically, boiling points increase with molecular weight because dispersion forces strengthen.

Edible Biopolymer Coatings for Postharvest Preservation in Warm‐Chain Horticultural Supply Chain: Mechanisms, Materials, Design Strategies, and Future Directions

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Fresh fruit and vegetable postharvest losses reach 30%–50% between harvest and consumption, concentrated in low‐ and middle‐income countries where warm‐chain supply chains (20°C–35°C, 55%–85% relative humidity, intermittent handling) replace the refrigerated cold chains conventional technology assumes.

Low‐Pressure CO2 and Aromatic Recognition by Interlayer Adaptive Crystal of π‐Hole‐Functionalized Zn(II) Coordination Sheets

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 42, 12 October 2026.
A perfluorinated Zn(II) coordination sheet operates as an interlayer adaptive crystal (LAC), where a small ultramicropore acts as an electrostatic trigger. Guest‐induced breathing driven by fluorinated π‐hole surfaces enables highly selective inclusion of CO2 over N2 and CH4, and benzene over other six‐membered hydrocarbons, beyond the intrinsic ...

Contrast in the Boundary Layer Convergence Lines at Desert−Oasis Border With Different Vegetation Gradient

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Motivated by an observed asymmetry in boundary layer convergence lines (BLCLs) between the Kubuqi and Ulan Buh desert borders of the Hetao Oasis in northern China, this work aims to document the differences in BLCL frequency and convective initiation and their potential drivers.

A Unified Block‐Modal Framework for Inverse Source Problems in Heat and Mass Transfer

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 19, 15 October 2026.
ABSTRACT This work presents a unified block–modal framework for inverse source identification in linear diffusive problems arising in heat and mass transfer. Starting from a general parabolic model with mixed boundary operators, the Classical Integral Transform Technique is employed to project the dynamics onto an orthonormal eigenbasis, yielding a ...

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 81, 8 October 2026.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Thermoresponsive Liquid Crystalline Polymer Coatings Programmed by Field‐Induced Topological Defects for Tunable Optical and Topographical Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 80, 5 October 2026.
Resonant standing waves generate large‐area lattices of liquid‐crystal topological defects that are permanently encoded into polymer coatings by photopolymerization. The preserved director architecture produces thermally reconfigurable surface topographies while maintaining programmable optical functionality, demonstrating a scalable strategy for ...

Atomic‐Scale Detection of Néel Vector Switching in the Single‐Layer A‐Type Antiferromagnet Cr2S3‐2D

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 58, 16 October 2026.
Interfacial electron donation from graphene redistributes charge within single‐layer Cr2S3‐2D, preferentially accumulating at the lower Cr/S plane. The resulting minute magnetic imbalance lifts the equivalence of the two magnetic sublayers, enabling atomic‐resolution identification and field‐induced control of Néel‐vector states in a two‐dimensional A ...
