A specific radioimmunoassay for the novel opioid peptide dynorphin
Life Sciences, 1980Abstract Dynorphin was recently isolated from porcine pituitary extracts and shown to be the most potent known opioid peptide. Antisera were prepared to synthetic dynorphin-(1–13), the biologically active NH 2 -terminal fragment of the peptide. A high-titer, sensitive antiserum was characterized with fragments from dynorphin-(1–13).

Analgesic effects of dynorphin-A and morphine in mice
Peptides, 1985To investigate whether or not dynorphin-A is analgesic, the effect of this peptide was tested in comparison with that of morphine in mice. Dynorphin-A produced a potent analgesic effect in the acetic acid writhing and tail pinch tests, but a weak effect in the tail flick test when given by intracerebroventricular injection. In contrast, morphine caused

Dynorphin A inhibits NMDA receptors through a pH-dependent mechanism
Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience, 2003Dynorphin A (DynA), an endogenous agonist of kappa-opioid receptors, has also been reported to directly interact with the NMDA receptor. DynA inhibition of NMDA receptor function has been suggested to be involved in its neuroprotective action during ischemic and acidic conditions.

Metabolism of dynorphin A(1-13).
Die Pharmazie, 2004Dynorphin A(1-13), a tridecapeptide of the endogenous opioid peptides, has modest effects in reducing mild opiate withdrawal in humans. Previous studies revealed that dynorphin also potentiates the analgesic effect of morphine in morphine-tolerant rats and mice.

Characterization of dynorphin A-induced antinociception at spinal level
European Journal of Pharmacology, 1985Dynorphin A (DYN A) injected intrathecally in the rat produced a significant elevation of the nociceptive threshold, measured by the tail flick test. The highest dose of DYN A (25 nmol) produced maximal elevation of tail flick latency to radiant heat together with hindlimb paralysis and tail flaccidity lasting several hours, thus confirming several ...

Physical dependence liability of dynorphin A analogs in rodents
European Journal of Pharmacology, 1991To assess the physical dependence liability of dynorphin A analogs, mice were given repeated injections of various dynorphin A analogs twice daily for 5 days, and rats were given repeated administration of [N-methyl-Tyr1,N-methyl-Arg7,D-Leu8]dynorphin-A-(1-8) ethylamide (E-2078) twice daily for up to 7 weeks.

Dynorphin modulates motivation through a pallido-amygdala cholinergic circuit
SUMMARYThe endogenous opioid peptide dynorphin and its receptor κ-opioid receptor (KOR) have been implicated in divergent behaviors, but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here we show that dynorphin released from nucleus accumbens dynorphinergic neurons exerts powerful modulation over a ventral pallidum (VP) disinhibitory circuit, thereby ...Qingtao Sun +9 more
