Can Machine Learning Assist in Diagnosis of Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia? A Feasibility Study

open access: yesDiagnostics
Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a rare autoimmune disease characterised by the immune-mediated destruction of peripheral blood platelets in patients leading to low platelet counts and bleeding.

Retardation of atherosclerosis in immunocompetent apolipoprotein (apo) E-deficient mice followingliver-directed administration of a [E1-, E3-,polymerase-] adenovirus vector containing the elongation factor-1a promoter driving expression of human apoE cDNA

open access: yes, 2005
Although gene transfer of human apolipoprotein E (apoE), a 34-kDa circulating glycoprotein, to the liver of apoEdeficient(apoE-/-) mice using recombinant adenoviral vectors (rAd) is antiatherogenic, its full therapeutic potentialhas yet to be realized ...

Modelling the optical constants of GaAs: excitonic effects at E1, E1 + Δ1 critical points

open access: yes, 1999
Calculation of the optical constants of GaAs is presented. In this work we do not take into account excitonic effects at E1 and E1 + Δ1 critical points.

Self‐Seeded Nucleation of PET in a Benign Solvent Yields a High Modulus Aerogel With Ultra‐Low Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new benign solvent (1,3‐diphenylacetone) enables a simple, safe, and sustainable dissolution and gelation method to convert waste PET into low density, monolithic aerogels with high mechanical strength (E = 20 MPa) and remarkably low thermal conductivity (k = 21.9 to 28.9 mW/m·K).

Second‐Harmonic Hyper‐Mie Optical Activity Enables Closed‐Loop Chiral Photochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Nonlinear chiral photochemistry is demonstrated in CdTe/CdO nanohelices, where circularly polarized infrared light both drives and tracks photo‐oxidation via second‐harmonic scattering. This closed‐loop process reveals real‐time structural evolution, including shell fracturing and core exposure, accompanied by a transition from hyper‐Mie to hyper ...

Viral escape studies with E1-targeting mAbs.

open access: yes, 2019
Location of A286 and R289 on the p62-E1 X-ray structure (A, PDB ID: 3N40) [9] or on the E1/E2 cryoEM heterohexamer (B, PDB ID: 3J2W) [11]. For clarity, p62 or E2 subunits are colored gray whereas E1 domains DI, DII, and DIII colored as per Fig 1.

Q1 and E1 mutations investigated in this study preserve Q1 channel function and Q1/E1 interactions

open access: yes, 2011
Current traces are recorded from three batches of oocytes, expressing Q1-WT (top), Q1(-Cys)-WT (middle), or Q1(-Cys)-I145C (bottom), alone or with E1 WT or mutants at 1:1 cRNA molar ratio.
