Aim/purpose – This study examines the time-series properties of home loans and domestic credit in Poland and the three Baltic countries, first in the univariate sense by identifying structural breaks in the series, and then using a multivariate model to ...

The Impact of Monetary Policy on Bank Risk in the Western Balkan Countries
The objective of this research paper is to examine the impact of monetary policy conditions on bank risk-taking in the Western Balkan countries. The paper tries to identify if monetary policy conditions, especially money interest rates, may induce a ...

Breakdown of Simple Scaling in Abelian Sandpile Models in One Dimension [PDF]
We study the abelian sandpile model on decorated one dimensional chains. We determine the structure and the asymptotic form of distribution of avalanche-sizes in these models, and show that these differ qualitatively from the behavior on a simple linear chain.

Symplectic tracking using point magnets and a reference orbit made of circular arcs and straight lines [PDF]
Symplectic tracking of beam particles using point magnets is achieved using a reference orbit made of circular arcs and straight lines that join smoothly with each other. For this choice of the reference orbit, results are given for the transfer functions, transfer matrices, and the transit times of the magnets and drift spaces. These results provide a

Metcalfe's law and log-period power laws in the cryptocurrencies market
In this paper the authors investigate the statistical properties of some cryptocurrencies by using three layers of analysis: alpha-stable distributions, Metcalfe’s law and the bubble behaviour through the LPPL modelling.

Instabilities of Charged Polyampholytes [PDF]
We consider polymers formed from a (quenched) random sequence of charged monomers of opposite signs. Such polymers, known as polyampholytes (PAs), are compact when completely neutral and expanded when highly charged. We examine the transition between the two regimes by Monte Carlo simulations, and by analogies to charged drops. We find that the overall

Kinetics of phase ordering with topological textures [PDF]
We study the role played by topological textures and antitextures during the phase ordering of a two-dimensional system described by the discretised nonlinear O(3) sigma model with purely dissipative dynamics. We identify and characterise two distinct mechanisms for the decay of the order parameter variations --- single texture unwinding, and ...

Critical exponents for 3D O(n)-symmetric model with n > 3 [PDF]
Critical exponents for the 3D O(n)-symmetric model with n > 3 are estimated on the base of six-loop renormalization-group (RG) expansions. A simple Pade-Borel technique is used for the resummation of the RG series and the Pade approximants [L/1] are shown to give rather good numerical results for all calculated quantities.

Public Debt and Inflation: A Review of International Literature
Research background: Public debt arises mainly from debt-financed deficits. More and more countries are resorting to additional public indebtedness to raise additional financial resources to meet government funding needs, which are unattainable by the ...
