The Unique Type Ib Supernova 2005bf: A WN Star Explosion Model for Peculiar Light Curves and Spectra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Observations and modeling for the light curve (LC) and spectra of supernova (SN) 2005bf are reported. This SN showed unique features: the LC had two maxima, and declined rapidly after the second maximum, while the spectra showed strengthening He lines ...

The wide gape of snakes: A comparison of the developing mandibular symphysis in sauropsids

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Our analysis explores the adaptations at the mandibular symphysis required to allow extreme lower jaw mobility in macrostomate snakes taking a comparative approach. Abstract The origin and evolution of snakes has been marked by the acquisition of many morphological and functional novelties, one of which is the possession of a highly kinetic skull ...

Probing Shock Breakout and Progenitors of Stripped-Envelope Supernovae through Their Early Radio Emissions

open access: yes, 2012
We study properties of early radio emission from stripped-envelope supernovae (those of type IIb/Ib/Ic). We suggest there is a sub-class of stripped-envelope supernovae in their radio properties, including optically well-studied type Ic supernovae (SNe ...

Mothers' Experiences of Formula Feeding Support in the UK: A Qualitative Systematic Review

open access: yesMaternal &Child Nutrition, Volume 22, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Most babies in the UK and Ireland receive formula milk in their first 6 months of life. Understanding mothers' perceptions of formula feeding support is crucial in shaping practical guidelines, research‐based strategies and future policies to support formula feeding decisions.

The quest for global monetary policy coordination

open access: yesEconomics: Journal Articles, 2019
This paper puts forward a proposal to help monetary policies confront the challenge of the “normalisation” of money creation and interest rates. The difficult unwinding of years of unorthodox policies put financial stability at risk in major monetary ...

The peak luminosity - peak energy correlation in GRBs

open access: yes, 2005
We derive the peak luminosity - peak energy (L_iso - E_peak) correlation using 22 long Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) with firm redshift measurements. We find that its slope is similar to the correlation between the time integrated isotropic emitted energy ...

Cinnamic‐Hydroxamic‐Acid Derivatives Exhibit Antibiotic, Anti‐Biofilm, and Supercoiling Relaxation Properties by Targeting Bacterial Nucleoid‐Associated Protein HU

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.

Trafficking of the human Na+/H+ antiporter NHA2 to the plasma membrane requires cornichon COPII cargo receptors

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract A key prerequisite of transporter proteins' function is their trafficking to the target cellular membranes where they fulfill distinct physiological roles. Cornichon proteins (CNIH/Erv14) represent a highly conserved family of coat protein complex II (COPII)‐coated vesicle cargo receptors that facilitate the exit of numerous transporters from ...

Financial technology, macroeconomic uncertainty, and commercial banks’ proactive risk-taking in China

open access: yesChina Economic Quarterly International, 2023
In this paper, we collect the annual data of 145 commercial banks in China from 2010 to 2019 and use a panel data fixed-effect model to study how fintech (financial technology) affects the influence of macroeconomic uncertainty on commercial banks ...
