Genetic Diversity of Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Isolates From Two Tertiary Care Hospitals in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, Characterized by spa Typing, Coagulase VNTR Sequencing, and REP‐PCR

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus remains a major cause of health care‐associated infection in high‐risk units such as burn and cancer wards. In settings where advanced genotyping schemes are not routinely available, combining complementary molecular typing methods can improve characterization of genetic diversity for surveillance ...

The Progenitor of the New COMPTEL/ROSAT Supernova Remnant in Vela

open access: yes, 1999
We show that (1) the newly discovered supernova remnant (SNR), GRO J0852--4642/RX J0852.0--4622, was created by a core-collapse supernova of a massive star, and (2) the same supernova event which produced the $^{44}$Ti detected by COMPTEL from this ...

Electric Field‐Stimulated Autofluorescence for In Situ 3D Characterization of Polymer Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 45, December 4, 2025.
Moderate electric fields induce intrinsic autofluorescence at microscale defects within diverse polymers under laser excitation. Combined with confocal microscopy, this probe‐free method enables real‐time, submicron‐resolution 3D imaging of voids, fillers, and electrical trees before irreversible damage occurs.

Wearing colored glasses can influence the exercise performance and testosterone concentration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Perception of red color is associated with higher testosterone concentration and better human performance. Thus, we evaluated the acute effects of wearing colored-lens glasses on the YoYo intermittent endurance exercise test 2 (YoYoIE2) performance ...

Improvement of Mechanical Performance of Large Capacity Dry‐Type On‐Board Traction Transformer Under Short‐Circuit Electromagnetic Force

open access: yesHigh Voltage, Volume 10, Issue 6, Page 1558-1570, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The application of dry‐type on‐board traction transformers (D‐OBTTs) aims to achieve lightweight electric multiple units (EMUs) and support the approach for carbon neutrality. However, the production of large capacity D‐OBTTs are limited due to the defects in insulation materials under the impact of short‐circuit electromagnetic force.

miSTAR : miRNA target prediction through modeling quantitative and qualitative miRNA binding site information in a stacked model structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In microRNA (miRNA) target prediction, typically two levels of information need to be modeled: the number of potential miRNA binding sites present in a target mRNA and the genomic context of each individual site.

Response to Comments on Brethauer et al. Bariatric Surgery Improves the Metabolic Profile of Morbidly Obese Patients With Type 1 Diabetes. Diabetes Care 2014;37:e51–e52 [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes Care, 2014
We thank Middelbeek and Brown (1) for their interest in our work and for their comments on our article (2) about the effects of bariatric surgery in type 1 diabetes. We agree with their view that the metabolic responses to bariatric surgery in severely obese patients with type 1 diabetes are poorly understood.
