UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

The small splice variant of HPV16 E6, E6⁎, reduces tumor formation in cervical carcinoma xenografts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
High-risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV) cause nearly all cases of cervical cancer. The E6 oncoprotein is produced as a full-length variant (E6) as well as several shorter isoforms (E6⁎).

A Drosophila Model of HPV E6-Induced Malignancy Reveals Essential Roles for Magi and the Insulin Receptor. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2016
Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death in women worldwide. The causative agents of cervical cancers, high-risk human papillomaviruses (HPVs), cause cancer through the action of two oncoproteins, E6 and E7.

Advancing SafeWax, A Bio‐Inspired Superhydrophobic Coating, Toward Sustainable and Climate‐Resilient Crop Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study advances SafeWax, a bio‐inspired, fatty‐acids‐based superhydrophobic coating, by identifying an agriculturally compliant solvent and revealing how solvent‐controlled Fatty acid crystallization governs the coating's microscopic structure and performance.

Molecular and Metabolic Consequences Following E6 Transfection in an Isogenic Ovarian Cell Line (A2780) Pair

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2013
Aims: To examine molecular and metabolic consequences of HPV-16 viral- protein E6, which targets p53 for degradation, in A2780 (ovarian cancer) cells. Methods: Isogenic derivatives of A2780 cells, with empty-vector (E6-) or E6 (E6+) transfection, were ...

The E6AP binding pocket of the HPV16 E6 oncoprotein provides a docking site for a small inhibitory peptide unrelated to E6AP, indicating druggability of E6. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The HPV E6 oncoprotein maintains the malignant phenotype of HPV-positive cancer cells and represents an attractive therapeutic target. E6 forms a complex with the cellular E6AP ubiquitin ligase, ultimately leading to p53 degradation.

E6-mediated degradation of PDZ domain proteins is conserved in Drosophila.

open access: yes, 2016
(A-T) apterous-Gal4 was used to express transgenes in the dorsal compartment of wing imaginal discs. In all images dorsal is to the left and ventral is to the right and dashed lines indicate the boundary between the two compartments.

Lattice Strain and Built‐In Field Synergistically Boost Urea Oxidation via Dynamic NiOOH Mediation at Multiphase Heterointerfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A sulfur‐doped lignin‐derived carbon‐coated Ni‐NiO‐MoO2 nanorod array was synthesized, exhibiting enhanced UOR performance ‐ due to lattice‐strain and built‐in electric field effects by multiphase heterogeneous interface in Ni‐NiO‐MoO2@SC, excellent corrosion resistance, mass‐transport ability, and long‐term stability (500 mA cm−2 at 1.53 V for 500 h ...

Structural insights into a wildtype domain of the oncoprotein E6 and its interaction with a PDZ domain. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The high-risk human papilloma virus (HPV) oncoproteins E6 and E7 interact with key cellular regulators and are etiological agents for tumorigenesis and tumor maintenance in cervical cancer and other malignant conditions.

Tamper‐Responsive Physical Unclonable Functions via Graphene‐Interlayered Block Copolymer Random Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐invalidating multilayer physical unclonable functions (PUFs) integrate fingerprint‐like metal nanopattern bilayers from block copolymer templates with highly reactive reduced graphene oxide (rGO) interlayers. This tamper‐responsive architecture blocks all unauthorized physical and chemical replication attempts while autonomously deactivating ...
