Growth Differentiation Factor 11 Is a Circulating Regulator of Oligodendrocyte Differentiation and CNS Myelin Formation and Repair

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
Systemically administered GDF11 enhances CNS myelin formation and repair across both developmental and disease contexts. GDF11 promotes the differentiation of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells into mature oligodendrocytes, increases myelin sheath thickness in neonatal mice, and accelerates remyelination in both the cuprizone‐induced demyelination model ...

Alterations of circulating innate lymphoid cells in recent‐onset type 1 diabetes

open access: yesClinical &Translational Immunology, Volume 15, Issue 6, 2026.
Circulating innate lymphoid cells (ILC) in patients with recent‐onset type 1 diabetes (T1D) show a chronic activation and a primed phenotype, with overexpression of HLA Class II (ILC1 and ILCP) and dysregulation of costimulatory and migratory mRNA transcripts. Glucose and cytokines (IL‐1β) mediate circulating ILC activation and HLA Class II expression.

Ingested (oral) SST inhibits EAE

open access: yesAutoimmunity, 2011
Ingested immunoactive proteins type I interferon, soluble immune response suppressor peptide 1-21 and melanocyte-stimulating hormone inhibit clinical attacks and inflammation in acute experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE).We examined whether another immunoactive protein, somatostatin (SST), would have similar anti-inflammatory effects on EAE ...
