Gymnema sylvestre: Bioactive constituents, health benefits, and emerging applications in nutraceuticals and functional foods

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Gymnema sylvestre (Retz.) R.Br. ex‐Schult., commonly known as “gurmar” or “sugar destroyer,” belongs to the Apocynaceae family and is traditionally used in Ayurveda for diabetes management. This review synthesizes ethnomedicinal evidence with contemporary pharmacological studies, to evaluate the therapeutic properties and mechanistic actions ...

Bone Adaptation and Labor Organization in Co‐Located Medieval Anatolian Populations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Osteoarchaeology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Skeletal evidence from geographically co‐located populations offers a rare opportunity to disentangle subsistence‐driven bone adaptation from socially organized labor. This study examines upper limb morphology in two Byzantine communities—the urban center of Tyana (10th–13th c.

Attempt to Quantify Molecules of Host Plant Volatiles Evoking an Electroantennographic Response in Anoplophora glabripennis Antennae

open access: yesInsects
Anoplophora glabripennis, is one of the most devastating wood borers of many broad leaf trees. Our previous results indicated that antennae of A. glabripennis showed electroantennogram (EAG) responses to several host plant volatiles.

Cu+‐Driven Formate Selectivity in Oxidation‐State‐Dependent CO2 Reduction on Cu2O|Graphene

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A Cu2O|graphene heterostructure enables interfacial electronic self‐regulation that stabilizes catalytically active Cu+ species under cathodic CO2 reduction conditions. Suppressed over‐reduction preserves structural integrity and promotes *OCHO pathway, resulting in durable and highly selective electrochemical conversion of CO2 to formate.

Electrophysiological Responses of the Beetle to Essential Oils from Piperaceae Species

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2012
Electrophysiological responses based on electroantennographic detection (GC-EAD) and electroantennography (EAG) analysis of Naupactus bipes beetles (Germar, 1824) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Brachycerinae) were used to test volatile oils of Piper ...

Eag and HERG potassium channels as novel therapeutic targets in cancer

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2010
Voltage gated potassium channels have been extensively studied in relation to cancer. In this review, we will focus on the role of two potassium channels, Ether à-go-go (Eag), Human ether à-go-go related gene (HERG), in cancer and their potential ...

Impact of Environmental Microparticles on Insect Olfaction

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Terrestrial insects underpin key ecosystem services, including pollination, herbivory regulation, decomposition, nutrient cycling, and disease control. These functions depend on chemical communication that guides insects to food, mates, hosts, shelters, and oviposition sites while helping them avoid threats.

Fungal infection affects sexual signalling and mate choice in the sugarcane borer

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
Fungus‐infected Diatraea saccharalis females exhibit enhanced attractiveness to males in wind tunnel assays. Fungal infection alters the pheromone profile of females, increasing the relative abundance of Z9‐16: Ald, a minor but behaviourally active component of the species' sex pheromone blend.

Restoring, Protecting, and Expanding Abortion Access in the United States: Seeking Consensus Through the Delphi Method

open access: yesPerspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization United States (US) Supreme Court decision exacerbated inequitable access to abortion rights in the United States. This study aimed to determine the degree of agreement on which strategies should be prioritized to restore, protect, and expand abortion access. Methodology From July to
