Lipid profile studies in inner ear dysfunction
Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, 1994In the present paper fifty patients with symptoms of inner ear dysfunction, primarily deafness, vertigo or both, were subjected to a detailed history, pure tone audiometry and caloric tests. A detailed serum lipid analysis was done of all the patients.

Multimodal Recognition Using Face Profile and Ear
2006 1st International Symposium on Systems and Control in Aerospace and Astronautics, 2006Ear recognition is proved to be a new and promising subject in biometrics authentication. As the ear is located at the side face, it is reasonable to combine ear with face profile for recognition in such scenarios as frontal face images are not available.

Multimodal biometrie recognition using human ear and profile face
2018 4th International Conference on Recent Advances in Information Technology (RAIT), 2018In recent years, many researchers have shown interest in combining features of different biometrie traits to improve recognition performance of the biometrie systems. In this paper, we examine the feature-level fusion of two contactless biometric modalities of the same image i.e. ear and profile face.

A Retrospective Study of Clinical Profile of Patients with Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease
Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, 2023Bilateral sensorineural hearing loss can be a very distressing symptom and can affect the efficiency of a person and one's quality of life. Conditions causing bilateral hearing loss are very few and autoimmune aetiology is one of them. Autoimmune ear disease is characterised by bilateral, mostly fluctuating audiovestibular symptoms and symptoms which ...

Efficient human recognition system using ear and profile face
2013 IEEE Sixth International Conference on Biometrics: Theory, Applications and Systems (BTAS), 2013This paper proposes an efficient human authentication system which makes use of ear and profile face data. SURF has been used to extract features from enhanced images and fusion has been performed at feature level and score level. The evaluation has been done on three data sets viz.

Can the opposite ear provide profile information?
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982Consider a spectrum produced by 21 components, all equal in amplitude and spaced in equal logarithmic steps in frequency. (The frequency ratio between successive components being 1.12, or about 6 tones/oct.) The signal is an increment in the middle component, near 950 Hz.

Identification of gene expression profiles in rat ears with cDNA microarrays
Hearing Research, 2003The physiological processes of hearing implicate thousands of molecules acting in harmony; however, their identities are only partially understood. We used cDNA microarrays containing 1,176 genes to identify >150 genes expressed in rat middle and inner ear tissue. Expressed genes covered several gene families and biological pathways, many of which have

On the use of ear and profile faces for distinguishing identical twins and nontwins
Expert Systems, 2019AbstractThis study aims to measure the efficiency of ear and profile face in distinguishing identical twins under identification and verification modes. In addition, to distinguish identical twins by ear and profile face separately, we propose to fuse these traits with all possible binary combinations of left ear, left profile face, right ear, and ...

Amino acid profiles in inner ear fluids and cerebrospinal fluid
The Laryngoscope, 1982AbstractThe levels of 19 amino acids in utricular endolymph, vestibular and cochlear perilymph, and cerebrospinal fluid of guinea pigs were determined using gradient elution reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography of the o‐phthaldialdehyde‐ethanethiol adducts with fluorescence detection. Aspartate and glutamate were significantly higher in

Ear Detection in 3D Profile Images Based on Surface Curvature
2012 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing, 2012Although a number of different ear recognition techniques have been proposed, not much work has been done in the field of ear detection. In this work we present a new ear detection approach for 3D profile images based on surface curvature and semantic analysis of edge-patterns. The algorithm applies edge-based detection techniques, which are known from
