Audiological profile in children with congenital inner ear anomalies

Cochlear Implants International
The current study aims to describe subjects and audiological profiles of children with congenital inner ear anomalies (IEAs).A total of 193 children with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) and radiological evidence of one or more congenital IEAs were included. The most common IEAs in the current study was enlarged vestibular aqueduct (EVA) either ...

A Comparison of the Effects of Differences in Temporal Gating and Ear of Presentation on Profile Discrimination

Perception, 2002
The aim of the study was to examine the effects of differences in temporal gating and ear of presentation (both separately and in combination) on listeners' ability to detect an increment in the level of a 1 kHz component (the target) relative to that of four spectrally flanking components. The flanking components were always presented to the listeners'

Multimodal biometrics system based on face profile and ear

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
Face recognition from a side profile view, has recently received significant attention in the literature. Even though current face recognition systems have reached a certain level of maturity at angles up to 30 degrees, their success is still limited with side profile angles. This paper presents an efficient technique for the fusion of face profile and

Defining the Prominent Ear: Anthropometric Profile of Prominent and Normal Ears in the Arabian Peninsula

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery
Background: Anthropometric measures enhance patient selection for surgical interventions and the diagnosis of congenital disorders. Aims: To produce an objective definition of perceived ear prominence through a rigorous replication of ...

Auditory profile analysis: Effects of asynchrony and ear of presentation

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1999
The ability of listeners to detect an increment in the level of a 1-kHz tone relative to four flanking tones (having frequencies of 0.16, 0.40, 2.50, and 6.25 kHz) was examined under four conditions of presentation. In two conditions all five tones were presented monaurally to the listener’s right ear, while in the other two conditions the 1-kHz tone ...

Ears on the Line Profile of Decay Transitions in a Gas Laser

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1967
In a gas laser a spectrum line, whose upper state is the lower state of the laser transition, may contain a structure due to the laser action. We have observed this structure, which we refer to as ears, on the 6096-A neon line emitted spontaneously in a 1.15 μ He–Ne laser.

Profile of Cataract Patients in the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, Rangoon

Tropical Doctor, 1989
We report on our experience of cataract surgery in the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital (EENTH), Rangoon. Cataract patients constituted 52070 of all those admitted with eye diseases to the EENTH in a year. The mean number of cataract cases operated per month was 282. Among cataracts the senile form was the commonest.

Combining Human Ear and Profile Face Biometrics for Identity Recognition

2021
In this paper, we propose an improved multimodal ear and profile face biometrics for human identity recognition under uncontrolled conditions such as illumination changes, pose variation, low contrast, partial occlusion, and blur. In this framework, ear and profile face images are localized from the side face image which is acquired using a single ...

Clinical and bacteriological profile of the ear in otogenic tetanus: A case control study

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1992
AbstractTwenty two patients presented with otogenic tetanus. Seventeen patients had acute histories with only a single episode of otitis media with otorrhoea. Fifteen patients had unilateral central perforations, five had bilateral central perforations and two had no perforations but had acutely congested tympanic membranes which were bulging ...

ROBUST PROFILE VERIFICATION SCHEME BASED ON EAR REFERENCE COORDINATE SYSTEM

International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2004
In this paper, a novel profile verification scheme based on the ear, contour lines and feature points from head profile images is proposed. From the side image of a human head taken by a CCD camera, the contour line of the image is extracted by the simple filling method and morphological filtering.
