cDNA-AFLP analysis of gene expression differences between the flower bud and sprout-shoot apical meristem of Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2011
Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels (Umbelliferae) is a well-known medicinal plant mainly distributed in Gansu Province of China. Its local and global demand is significant because of its food and medicinal applications.

T2 plants with normal bolting time are transgene-free plants.

open access: yes, 2019
DNA was isolated from leaves collected from 4–6 individual normal bolting T2 plants for each of the 4 lines, and PCR was used to amplify Cas9 fragment.

Lab‐Scale Fabrication Process Selection for Soft Robotics: Benchmarking, Tradeoffs, and Guidelines for Formative Manufacturing of Soft Silicone Components

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Fabrication shapes soft robot performance, but benchmarking data and selection guidelines remain scarce. We fabricate silicone actuators using two molding techniques and three mold types, characterizing them with cycle testing, microscopy, profilometry, and 3D imaging. Applying our lab‐scale, soft robotics‐specific fabrication evaluation criteria shows

The isolation of flowering time genes from lettuce to enable the manipulation of bolting time [PDF]

open access: yes
The time of bolting is an important factor in lettuce production because it affects the yield and quality of the harvested crop. Bolting is promoted by higher temperatures and is an increasing problem for growers with the current trend for warmer ...

Development of an Inchworm‐Like Dual‐Balloon‐Assisted Colonoscopic Robot Based on a Two‐Segment Extensible Continuum Section

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents an inchworm‐like dual‐balloon‐assisted colonoscopic robot (IDCR) based on a rod‐driven two‐segment continuum section. The IDCR enables the active straightening of the sigmoid colon through an inchworm‐like locomotion strategy, thereby avoiding loop formation.

Isolation and molecular characterization of the FLOWERING LOCUS C gene promoter sequence in radish (Raphanus sativus L.)

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2016
Both bolting and flowering times influence taproot and seed production in radish. FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC) plays a key role in plant flowering by functioning as a repressor.

Interbody Wire for Reconfigurable Robots: Bridging Integrated Morphological Reconfiguration and Distributed Wire‐Mediated Cooperation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
TwinX shows how a single interbody wire connecting two robots can support both integrated morphological reconfiguration and distributed wire‐mediated cooperation. When the robots dock, they reconfigure into different forms for locomotion and manipulation.

Research on Diaphragm Pump Fault Diagnosis Method Based on Res‐DCB‐Net

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nonstationary pressure pulsation signals of diaphragm pumps contain strong background noise and coupled characteristics. This makes it challenging to extract incipient fault features and to decouple faults with similar physical mechanisms. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a spatiotemporal fault diagnosis model named Res‐DCB ...

Integrative path modeling and QTL mapping identify maturity, stem strength, and cell wall composition driving lettuce resistance to Sclerotinia minor

open access: yesScientific Reports
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is highly vulnerable to Sclerotinia minor, the pathogen causing lettuce drop. Breeding for resistance is the most effective control strategy; however, full resistance has not been achieved, and current partial resistance sources ...

Descriptive, comparative, and functional anatomy of the facial musculature in cattle (Bos taurus)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Facial expressions can provide insight into animal emotions and pain, but no standardized system for assessing the entire facial display in cattle (Bos taurus Linnaeus) exists. The Facial Action Coding System (FACS), originally developed for humans, identifies distinct facial movements based on mimetic muscles.
