Early repolarization syndromes
2016The new concept of early repolarization syndromes is presented. Types of this syndrome, epidemiology data, and clinical significance are discussed.

The early repolarization (ER) pattern is a particular EKG aspect first described in 1936 by Shipley and Hallaran as a normal variant of repolarization. Subsequently Haissaguerre et al proposed a new ER classification characterized by J point elevation associated with J wave and ST-segment elevation or a horizontal/descending ST segment.

Early repolarization syndrome (ERS) is a rare cardiac condition characterized by J-point elevation (JPE) on the ECG and an increased risk of sudden cardiac death due to polymorphic ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation. Because of the high prevalence of JPE in the general population, the diagnosis of ERS in presymptomatic patients and the

Early Repolarization Revisited
New England Journal of Medicine, 2008For more than 60 years, physicians have been fascinated by a peculiar electrocardiographic pattern called “early repolarization.”1 When Google is queried, more than 1 million hits turn up on this subject. Although Boineau recently described the electrocardiographic features of early repolarization as being quite diverse,2 such features have one factor ...

MY APPROACH to early repolarization syndrome
Trends in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2016Management of a patient with early repolarization (ER) pattern on the ECG can be a challenge; but, first, I would like to resolve some confusion regarding the definition of ER. ER was traditionally defined as concave ST-segment elevation plus prominent or symmetrically limbed T wave often accompanied by J wave or QRS notching or slurring.
