New information on earthquake history of the Aksehir-Afyon Graben System, Turkey, since the second half of 18th century [PDF]
Researches aimed at enriching the number of available documentary sources on earthquakes have an important role in seismology. To this end, this paper documents the history of prominent earthquakes associated with the NW-SE trending Sultandag-Aksehir ...

A 'new generation' earthquake catalogue
In 1995, we published the first release of the Catalogo dei Forti Terremoti in Italia, 461 a.C. - 1980, in Italian (Boschi et al., 1995). Two years later this was followed by a second release, again in Italian, that included more earthquakes, more accurate research and a longer time span (461 B.C. to 1990) (Boschi et al., 1997).

Simulator‐Based Bayesian Inference of Enhanced Geothermal Reservoir Properties
Abstract Inversions of dynamic multi‐scale multi‐physics subsurface system properties rely on the effective sampling of high‐dimensional parameter spaces and are thus notoriously difficult to perform. The associated models are defined by complex nonlinear relationships with potentially stochastic components, which lead to analytically intractable ...

Abstract Modeling earthquake clustering in space and time is central to understanding seismicity patterns and improving forecasting. The Epidemic‐Type Aftershock Sequence (ETAS) model, grounded in the Hawkes process, has long been the standard approach for describing aftershock triggering through fixed, empirically defined kernel functions.

From Crimea to Syria. Re-defining the alleged historical earthquake of 63 B.C.
Within the SGA research on the historical seismicity of the Crimean Peninsula (SGA Report, 1990), interest has been focused on the case of the earthquake of 63 B.C.

Fifty Years Later: Revisiting Viking 2 Seismic Signals Through InSight
Abstract For nearly 50 years, the origin of the candidate seismic signals recorded by Viking 2 remained unresolved because of limited instrumental sensitivity, onboard observation, data compression, and the absence of Martian seismic context. Here we reconstruct the Viking seismic workflow and reinterpret the two Viking candidate events, recorded on ...

Abstract A wide selection of linear and non‐linear dimensionality reduction techniques is evaluated on synthetic tsunami data that is the basis for tsunami hazard assessment and computational forecasting. The data were computed from earthquake rupture forecasts (ERFs) supplying initial generation conditions and a linear long‐wave Green's function ...

Summary Short-duration instrumental earthquake catalogues, sparsity in seismic stations, and paucity of near-source earthquake data impose strong limitations on data-driven seismic hazard assessment. In contrast, regional-scale multi-cycle

Oldest 'earthquake' in South Africa (Robben Island, 07 April 1620) discredited
The oldest recorded earthquake in South Africa is widely accepted (in several seismic catalogues) to have occurred on 07 April 1620. This earthquake was regarded as having a Modified Mercalli Scale intensity of II-IV, corresponding to a Richter Scale ...
