Navigating Stress: Exploring the Role of Empathy in Caregiving

open access: yesDevelopmental Psychobiology, Volume 68, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Stress can negatively impact caregiving behavior; while chronic stress is consistently associated with reduced caregiver sensitivity, evidence regarding acute stress remains mixed. This preregistered study examined the causal effects of acute psychosocial stress on caregiver sensitivity with an experimental pseudorandomized design.

Modelling Climate Change Effects on Groundwater Recharge and Temperature for a Pre‐Alpine Lysimeter

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
Climate change is projected to increase winter groundwater recharge and extreme precipitation events in pre‐alpine regions. Groundwater temperatures will rise by up to 26%, primarily driven by air temperature. These trends pose challenges for future water availability and quality, requiring adaptive water resource management.

Neuroendocrine Transformation Without PSA Elevation in High‐Risk Metastatic Castration‐Sensitive Prostate Cancer Under Androgen Receptor Signaling Inhibition: A Case Report

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroendocrine prostate cancer is a rare and highly aggressive variant of prostate cancer with a poor prognosis. We report a case in which metastatic castration‐sensitive prostate cancer directly transformed into neuroendocrine prostate cancer without a corresponding increase in prostate‐specific antigen.

Aquatic macrophytes as nature‐based solutions: Challenges and opportunities across inland and coastal waters

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2026.
Abstract Macrophytes are foundation species whose use as nature‐based solution (NbS) in aquatic ecosystems can help reduce climate change impacts while mitigating biodiversity loss. The discrepancy in research and application of macrophytes as NbS across inland and marine coastal ecosystems is an opportunity to expand the concept and learn from ...

The Dual Roles of Regulatory B Cells in Infection, Cancer, and Immunity

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
Regulatory B cells maintain immune homeostasis via suppressive cytokines and surface molecules like PD‐L1. While beneficially suppressing autoimmunity and promoting transplant tolerance, these identical mechanisms detrimentally attenuate antipathogen and antitumor immune responses.
