Dynamic Interfacial Chemistry of Choline Chloride as Electrolyte Additive for Stable Zn‐Iodine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Choline chloride (ChCl) additive enables dynamic interface engineering in Zn‐I2 batteries by forming hydrophobic polyiodide complexes and a Zn‐stabilizing Ch+‐rich layer under electric field modulation. This dual‐function strategy suppresses iodine hydrolysis and dendrite formation, while optimizing Zn2+ solvation and transport for high‐efficiency ...

Design of Multilayer Frequency-Selective Surfaces by Equivalent Circuit Method and Basic Building Blocks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2019
An equivalent circuit method (ECM) is proposed for the design of multilayer frequency-selective surfaces (FSSs). In contrast to the existing ECMs that were developed mainly for the analysis of the properties of a given FSS, the presented ECM aims at ...

A Holistic Stabilization of the Anode in Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries Through a Ternary Alloy Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
LiTeAl anodes fabricated through a scalable thermal fusion technique holistically addresses the stability issues faced by lithium‐metal anodes in lithium–sulfur batteries. Aluminum forming a skeletal network with lithium suppresses dendrite growth and enhances energy density, while tellurium forming a robust SEI facilitates Li+‐ion flow.

Colonisation of Oncidium orchid roots by the endophyte Piriformospora indica restricts Erwinia chrysanthemi infection, stimulates accumulation of NBS-LRR resistance gene transcripts and represses their targeting micro-RNAs in leaves

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2019
Background Erwinia chrysanthemi (Ec) is a destructive pathogen which causes soft-rot diseases in diverse plant species including orchids. We investigated whether colonization of Oncidium roots by the endophytic fungus Piriformospora indica (Pi) restricts

Powering Nanocrystal‐Based Heat Engines With Light‐Emitting Metasurfaces That Influence Their Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

Coordinated hippocampal-entorhinal representations support human context-dependent spatial navigation.

open access: yesPLoS Biology
To execute goal-directed behavior, retrieval of both context and object information is crucial. Despite the ubiquity of such contextual computations in daily navigation, the neural mechanisms underlying this process in humans and its connection to ...

Theta-alpha connectivity in the hippocampal-entorhinal circuit predicts working memory load [PDF]

open access: yes
Working memory (WM) maintenance relies on multiple brain regions and inter-regional communications. The hippocampus and entorhinal cortex (EC) are thought to support this operation.

Enhancement of Dielectric Breakdown Strength and Recoverable Energy Density in Three‐Dimensional Heterointerfaces on BaTiO3–PbZrO3–PbTiO3 Films via Room‐Temperature Nano‐Clustering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A room‐temperature aerosol deposition process yields multiphase nano‐clustered dielectric capacitors containing discrete BaTiO3, PbZrO3, and PbTiO3 crystals. This architecture creates three‐dimensional heterointerfaces that induce interfacial charge trapping and effectively inhibit breakdown propagation.
