Studies of Acoustic Neutrino Detection Methods with ANTARES [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Instrum.Meth. A626-627:S217-S220,2011, 2010
The emission of neutrinos within a wide energy range is predicted from very-high-energy phenomena in the Universe. Even the current or next-generation Cherenkov neutrino telescopes might be too small to detect the faint fluxes expected for cosmic neutrinos with energies exceeding the EeV scale.

An Evaluation of the Microstructure and Microhardness in an Al–Zn–Mg Alloy Processed by ECAP and Post‐ECAP Heat Treatments [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, 2019
Herein the microstructure evolution and microhardness variations in a peak‐aged Al–Zn–Mg alloy after equal‐channel angular pressing (ECAP) for 1–8 passes followed by heat treatments at temperatures of 393–473 K for 5–20 h are examined. The results show that ECAP processing hardens the alloy, and the hardness increases with each pass due to grain ...

The cochlear apex demystified: Implications from synchrotron radiation phase‐contrast imaging and microscopy for cochlear implantation

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
This study is the first to present the detailed cellular organization and three‐dimensional (3D) tonotopic arrangement of the human organ of Corti, spiral ganglion, and central modiolus using synchrotron radiation phase‐contrast imaging (SR‐PCI) with matched histological cross‐sections.

Correlation between subgrains and coherently scattering domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Crystallite size determined by X-ray line profile analysis is often smaller than the grain or subgrain size obtained by transmission electron microscopy, especially when the material has been produced by plastic deformation.

Effects of hot forming cold die quenching and inter-pass solution treatment on the evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of AA2024 aluminum alloy after equal channel angular pressing

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of hot forming cold die quenching (HFQ) equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) on the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of AA2024 aluminum alloy.

Producing High‐Strength Metals by I‐ECAP [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, 2015
Incremental equal channel angular pressing (I‐ECAP) is used in this work to produce ultrafine‐grained (UFG) pure iron, aluminum alloy 5083, commercial purity titanium (grade 4), and magnesium alloy AZ31B. Pure iron is processed at room temperature, aluminum alloy at 200 °C, titanium at 320 °C, and magnesium alloy at 150 °C.

The Classical Book of the Abbasid Period as a Reference for Advanced Military Technology: A Thought Genealogy Study

open access: yesMillati: Journal of Islamic Studies and Humanities, 2022
The most effective metal manufacturing process is double pressing, which is capable of bending metal. The bending of the metal will cause a reaction that can improve its mechanical properties. In the book Al-Jamahir fi ma`rifat al-Jawahir there are three

ECAP: Extensive Cut-and-Paste Augmentation for Unsupervised Domain Adaptive Semantic Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) for semantic segmentation in which the model is trained on a labeled source dataset and adapted to an unlabeled target dataset. Unfortunately, current self-training methods are susceptible to misclassified pseudo-labels resulting from erroneous predictions.
