Eccrine Porocarcinoma

Eccrine porocarcinoma is a malignant tumor of eccrine sweat glands. It is a very rare, slow growing tumor and clinically resembles other skin cancers. We report a case and review its clinical and pathological features. These tumors have a propensity for local recurrence, and wide excision with negative margins is recommended.

Eccrine Porocarcinoma

Eccrine porocarcinoma is an extremely rare malignant skin tumor arising from the eccrine sweat duct unit (acrosyringium). It presents histologically with nests of clear tumor cells in the epidermis and superficial dermis. In addition such clear tumor cells lie isolated high up in the epidermis, closely resembling Paget cells.

We describe a 78-year-old woman with eccrine porocarcinoma presenting a zosteriform appearance on the lateral upper part of the buttock. Erosion and bleeding were observed in the center of a 50 × 80 mm, erythematous indurated plaque with an elevated border.
