Effect of ecdysterone on glucose metabolism in vitro
Life Sciences, 2006The aims of this study was to investigate whether ecdysterone is able to exert glucose-lowering effect on hepatocytes or stimulate the secretion of insulin. HepG2 cell line was used for glucose consumption (GC) studies. At moderate high glucose concentration (11.1 mmol/L), GC of HepG2 cells was increased by 44% to 77% with ecdysterone 1 x 10(-6) to 1 x

Ecdysterone from stem of Diploclisia glaucescens
Phytochemistry, 1989Abstract The stem of Diploclisia glaucescens afforded ecdysterone in a high yield of over 3%. 13 C NMR of the tetraacetate and NOE studies on the triacetate provided further data on the structure and conformation of this phytoecdysteroid. Hemolytic, insecticidal and spermicidal activity are reported for the compound.

Ecdysterone: Possible sources of origin in urine
Drug Testing and Analysis, 2022AbstractEcdysterone (crustecdysone; beta‐ecdysone; 20‐hydroxyecdysone) is a naturally occurring steroid hormone belonging to the ecdysteroid class. The presented study investigated the possible concentration range of ecdysterone in urine after consumption of various preparations of spinach, drinking tea (made from Rhapoiticum Carthamoides) and topical ...

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1983
The kinetics of the extraction of ecdysterone from the roots with rhizomes ofRhaponticum carthamoides has been studied. The results of investigations on the selection of the optimum solvent for extracting ecdysterone from the raw material, for the process of sorption purification, and for the recrystallization of the ecdysterone are given.

Ecdysterone induces acetylcholinesterase in mammalian brain
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Comparative Pharmacology, 1984The effects of ecdysterone on brain acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in immature and adult rats of both sexes have been studied in in vitro conditions. Ecdysterone produced an increase of AChE in rat brain slices. The most remarkable effect was found in immature male rats. In vitro assay using a purified AChE from electric eel showed no effect. Ecdysterone-induced protein synthesis in vitro
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1974Abstract Ecdysterone added in vitro to wing tissue from diapausing Antheraea polyphemus pupae induced the synthesis of several epidermal cell proteins. This is one of few instances in which any steroid hormone in physiological concentrations has been able to induce specific protein synthesis in target tissue in vitro soon after hormone stimulation ...

Ecdysterone, Ecdysterone Receptor, and Chromosome Puffs
1983Steroid hormones modulate the rates of transcription of specific genes (Ashburner 1972b; Becker 1959; Becker 1962; Berendes 1967; Clever and Karlson 1960; Clever 1961; Zhimulev 1974). The paradigm of hormone action is that the hormone interacts with a specific cytoplasmic receptor.
