Herbicide sensitivity of Echinochloa spp. accessions in Italian rice fields
Crop Protection, 2007Abstract Echinochloa species are listed among the major weeds in rice worldwide. A greenhouse study was carried out on 80 accessions of Echinochloa collected in Italian rice fields to assess difference in response to azimsulfuron, bensulfuron-methyl, cyhalofop-butyl, molinate, propanil and quinclorac.

Molecular Characterization of Herbicide Resistance in Echinochloa Spp.
1997Echinochloa spp. are weeds of maize and rice that cause serious yield losses and require to be controlled. Two main herbicides used in these crops are atrazine and quinclorac. Triazine herbicides inhibit photosystem II and quinclorac enhances ethylene production in susceptible plants (Devine et al., 1993; Grossmann and Kwiatkowski, 1993).

Molecular markers indicate intraspecific variation in the control ofEchinochloaspp. with quinclorac
Weed Science, 1999Some species of the genusEchinochloaare troublesome weeds in rice fields. The taxonomy of this genus leads to confusion in many cases due to its great morphological diversity. Because of the differential sensitivity to the herbicide quinclorac shown byEchinochloaspp., it was necessary to assess the botanical and molecular characterization of this weed ...

Echinochloa spp. in Australian rice fields—species distribution and resistance status
Australian Journal of Agricultural Research, 2008Six Echinochloa species, i.e. barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Beauv.), awnless barnyard grass (E. colona (L.) Link), hairy millet (E. oryzoides (Ard.) Fritsch), prickly barnyard grass (E. microstachya (Wieg.) Rydb), Japanese millet (E. esculenta (A Br.) H Scholz), and channel millet (E. inundata Michael et Vickery), were detected in surveys

Barnyard Grasses (Echinochloa spp.): Somatic Embryogenesis and ADH Production
1988Varieties of the Echinochloa complex (commonly known as barnyard grass) are among the world’s most serious weeds (Holm et al. 1977). They are found in 61 countries and are weeds of 36 crops (Holm et al. 1977). They range from 50°N to 40°S lat and are major weeds in all major agricultural areas with the exception of the African continent (Holm et al ...
