Diversity of Echinochloa spp. in Palakkad rice tracts of Kerala

Indian Journal of Weed Science, 2018
Surveys were conducted twice in the major rice tracts of Palakkad, once during January-February, and the other during August-September in 2016. Three major Echinochloa types were identified infesting rice fields, causing severe crop competition. The three types were E. colona, with awnless spikelets and two types of E. crus-galli, viz.E.

Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Different Echinochloa spp. and Oryza sativa Populations

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2006
Echinochloa P. Beauv. is an important genus because many of its species are weeds infesting most paddy fields, which can reduce the rice grain production by up to 80%. A controversy exists about the taxonomy of the genus due to the high level of morphological variations found in these species. Cyhalofop-butyl, an aryloxyphenoxy-propionate herbicide, is

Are Portuguese Echinochloa spp. populations still susceptible to propanil?

Communications in agricultural and applied biological sciences, 2010
Propanil is the most important herbicide for rice weed management both at world and national level. Rice growers complains of poor control of Echinochloa was monitored in Mondego and Sorraia river valleys, Portugal. Seed samples were collected from the affected area and tested.

Βιολογία και αντιμετώπιση βιοτύπων μουχρίτσας (Echinochloa spp.)

2006
The variability of twelve Echinochloa biotypes with respect to certain morphological and physiological characteristics, enzymic activity of syperoxide dismutase and peroxidase as well as sensitivity to certain postemergence rice herbicides was studied. The results showed that the biotypes, based on morphological and physiological differences, belong to

The effect of photoperiod on the growth and development of Echinochloa spp. Millets

Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture, 1985
Two cultivars of Echinochloa utilis, Ohwi et Yabuno, and one E.frumentacea (Roxb.) Link cultivar were grown in a glasshouse under three photoperiod regimes: naturally varying photoperiods (1 2-1 3 h), and fixed photoperiods of 14 and 16 h. Both species behaved as quantitative short-day plants although, in E. utilis, extending the photoperiod from 14 to

Propanil activity, uptake and metabolism in resistant Echinochloa spp. biotypes

Weed Research, 2001
Field resistance of Echinochloa spp. to propanil has been previously reported in Costa Rica, Colombia and Arkansas (USA). In this study, the mechanism of resistance was investigated in three resistant (R) and three susceptible (S) biotypes. The shoot fresh weight reduction in pot‐grown plants from a post‐emergence spray of propanil at 2.44 kg a.i. ha−1

Molinate for the control of Echinochloa spp. in rice in New South Wales

Weed Research, 1974
Summary: Résumé: ZusammenfassungIn a series of experiments carried out in the Leeton‐Yanco area of southern New South Wales, molinate was applied to drill‐sown rice at rates ranging from 2.24 to 6.73 kg/ha, and at times ranging from pre‐sowing to 36 days after sowing‐Applications were made to dry soil, and pre‐sowing applications were shallowly ...

Efficacy of rice herbicides on Echinochloa spp. as affected by repeated use

2015
Successful control of species belonging to the genus Echinochloa (P. Beauv.) in Italian rice fields has become increasingly difficult because of resistance to herbicides currently available for use in rice. The objective of the study was to compare under Italian field conditions the evolution in efficacy on Echinochloa spp.
