Storage Potential of Soil Functional Carbon Fractions in the World's Largest Plantations
Climate warming and drying increase the loss of mineral‐associated and particulate organic carbon during the conversion of natural forests to plantations. Based on a survey of the world's largest plantations, the study quantifies the soil carbon deficit in plantations and assesses benchmarks and targets for functional soil organic carbon, highlighting ...

A fecal microbial meta‐analysis reveals that Megasphaera is highly abundant in the Asian population with IBD and CRC. M. elsdenii reshapes colonic immunity by triggering DC cell‐mediated Th1 and Th17 inflammation. M. elsdenii and M. elsdenii‐enriched microbiota exacerbate colonic inflammation and tumorigenesis in AOM/DSS mice.

Ecological genomics and speciation in malaria vector mosquitoes [PDF]
Malaria vector control campaigns generate rapid changes to ecology with concomitant selective pressures on their targets. Malaria mosquitoes, therefore, present an excellent system for studying ecological adaptation alongside the medical importance of understanding the evolution of insecticide resistance.

Ecologic observations on anopheline vectors of malaria in the Brazilian Amazon.
Human intervention in the Brazilian Amazon region promotes contacts between humans and vectors that may favor the propagation of anopheline mosquitoes and the spread of malaria in the absence of planning and infrastructure to control this disease. Vector ecology studies were carried out to determine the risk areas.
