Tracers, recognized as vital technologies, enable precise monitoring of production processes, particularly in the context of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects. This study emphasizes tracers’ necessity as auxiliary tools for understanding reservoir characteristics, contributing to improved well productivity, reduced water production rates, and ...

Microbial exopolysaccharide production by polyextremophiles in the adaptation to multiple extremes
Polyextremophiles are microorganisms that endure multiple extreme conditions by various adaptation strategies that also include the production of exopolysaccharides (EPSs). This review provides an integrated perspective on EPS biosynthesis, function, and regulation in these organisms, emphasizing their critical role in survival and highlighting their ...

Complete genome sequence of Streptomyces formicae KY5, the formicamycin producer [PDF]
Here we report the complete genome of the new species Streptomyces formicae KY5 isolated from Tetraponera fungus growing ants. S. formicae was sequenced using the PacBio and 454 platforms to generate a single linear chromosome with terminal inverted ...

Diverse and Abundant Secondary Metabolism Biosynthetic Gene Clusters in the Genomes of Marine Sponge Derived Streptomyces spp. Isolates [PDF]
The genus Streptomyces produces secondary metabolic compounds that are rich in biological activity. Many of these compounds are genetically encoded by large secondary metabolism biosynthetic gene clusters (smBGCs) such as polyketide synthases (PKS) and ...

This study explores the genomic and metabolic characterization of a potentially novel Paenibacillus species isolated from cotton plant tissues. Phylogenetic analysis based on multi‐locus sequence data from six conserved genes reveals that Paenibacillus sp. TAB_01 forms a distinct lineage among 19 Paenibacillus species. Paenibacillus sp.

Ectoine, from a Natural Bacteria Protectant to a New Treatment of Dry Eye Disease
Ectoine, a novel natural osmoprotectant, protects bacteria living in extreme environments. This study aimed to explore the therapeutic effect of ectoine for dry eye disease. An experimental dry eye model was created in C57BL/6 mice exposed to desiccating

Developing High‐Efficiency Electroporation Protocols for Hard‐To‐Transform Halomonas spp.
Genetic manipulation of Halomonas species has been limited by poor transformation efficiencies. Here, we establish a highly efficient electroporation protocol for Halomonas elongata DSM 2581. This method also proved transferable to other Halomonas strains, encouraging further genetic manipulation work in underexplored species.
