Inductive specificity of mineralized bone matrix in ectopic osteoclast differentiation

Calcified Tissue International, 1982
The present report describes the first in a series of studies designed to identify the factor or factors responsible for eliciting osteoclast differentiation. Particles of mineralized and demineralized bone, hydroxyapatite (HA), and eggshell were grafted onto the chorioallantoic membranes (CAMs) of chick embryos.

Osteogenesis imperfecta with ectopic mineralizations in dentin and cementum and a COL1A2 mutation

Journal of Human Genetics, 2018
We report a Thai father (patient 1) and his daughter (patient 2) affected with osteogenesis imperfecta type IV and dentinogenesis imperfecta. Both were heterozygous for the c.1451G>A (p.Gly484Glu) mutation in COL1A2. The father, a Thai boxer, had very mild osteogenesis imperfecta with no history of low-trauma bone fractures.

Effect of polyvinyl phosphonates and ethane hydroxy diphosphonate on mineralization of ectopic bone

Chemico-Biological Interactions, 1984
The effects of polymeric polyphosphonate and of ethane hydroxydiphosphonate on the development of ectopic bone were compared at different stages of bone development. The diphosphonate affected bone development at different stages, as reflected by alkaline phosphatase and aryl sulphatase activities, as well as by the creation of calcium ions by bone and

Mineral phase in experimental ectopic calcification induced by lead acetate in the rat

Calcified Tissue Research, 1978
Experimental ectopic calcification caused by intravenous injection of lead acetate (Pb−Ac) followed by subcutaneous injection of polymyxin B sulfate (PMX) in the rat was studied by the methods of quantitative chemical analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis using samples freed of organic matter by low temperature ashing (LTA).

Small Charged Molecule-Mediated Fibrillar Mineralization: Implications for Ectopic Calcification

ACS Nano
Numerous small biomolecules exist in the human body and play roles in various biological and pathological processes. Small molecules are believed not to induce intrafibrillar mineralization alone. They are required to work in synergy with noncollagenous proteins (NCPs) and their analogs, e.g. polyelectrolytes, for inducing intrafibrillar mineralization,
