A passive electromagnetic eddy current friction damper (PEMECFD): Theoretical and analytical modeling

open access: yes, 2017
The focus of this paper is on analytical modeling of a novel type of passive friction damper for seismic hazard mitigation of structures. The proposed seismic damping device, which is termed as passive electromagnetic eddy current friction damper ...

Microwave Absorption for Detection of Dirac Fermions in SnTe Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Microwave absorption can detect Dirac fermions in samples exposed to the atmosphere. Results showed that although topological surface states are robust against environmental degradation, they are not detectable by electrical transport measurements. Hence, microwave absorption can detect Dirac fermions even in samples whose surfaces have deteriorated ...

Magnetically Actuated Drops‐on‐Stilts Microrobots for Transport and Delivery of Hydrophobic Cargo

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Iron oxide nanoparticles and oil droplets in external magnetic fields form “drops‐on‐stilts” microrobots that transport hydrophobic cargo. Tunable nanoparticle–droplet interactions generate stilt‐like structures. Field rotation enables walking, obstacle navigation, and collective motion.

On a Class of Degenerate Abstract Parabolic Problems and Applications to Some Eddy Current Models

open access: yes, 2020
We present an abstract framework for parabolic type equations which possibly degenerate on certain spatial regions. The degeneracies are such that the equations under investigation may admit a type change ranging from parabolic to elliptic type problems.

Electromagnetic Phenomena as the Principles of Material Nondestructive Evalution

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2004
In the paper the principles and application of nondestructive evalution by both electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) and the eddy current (EC) methods are introducted. The ultrasonic testing (UT) and the electromagnetic nondestructive testing (NDT)

Analytical model for estimation of eddy current and power loss in conducting plate and its application

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2011
A model is developed to study the eddy current induced in a thin conducting but nonmagnetic plate of finite size when exposed to a time varying magnetic field. The applied field may be uniform or vary in space. This model can accurately estimate the eddy

Comparison of Inspecting Non-Ferromagnetic and Ferromagnetic Metals Using Velocity Induced Eddy Current Probe

open access: yesSensors, 2018
A velocity induced eddy current probe has been used to detect cracks in both non-ferromagnetic and ferromagnetic metals. The simulation and experimental results show that this probe can successfully detect cracks in both cases, but further investigation ...
