An analytical dynamic model of eddy-current brakes
IEMDC 2001. IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference (Cat. No.01EX485), 2002This paper examines eddy-current brakes. Our aim is to model the brake and estimate its braking power. We focused on a static model, in which the flux density distribution on the eddy current surface was calculated using finite element methods. Next, we derived a dynamic model whose eddy currents were computed by means of an analytical expression.

Eddy Current Brake Control for Test Cycles Simulation
Design, Application, Performance and Emissions of Modern Internal Combustion Engine Systems and Components, 2003On-vehicle (rolls dynamometer or road) tests are usually more expensive and time-consuming than test bench ones. Furthermore, sometimes results would be useful during vehicles design phase. The paper aim is to present a methodology that allows simulating the vehicle on an engine test cell, by properly controlling the bench actuators.
