A Review of Recent Developments in Permanent Magnet Eddy Current Couplers Technology

open access: yesActuators, 2023
Permanent magnet eddy current couplers (PMECCs) have the characteristics of contactless torque transmission, removal of torque ripple, smooth dynamic process, and adjustable speed, and can be used as couplings, dampers, brakes, and speed governors. Their

Nitrous Oxide Emissions Across Sub‐Saharan Africa: Meta‐Analysis and Data‐Driven Modeling

open access: yesGlobal Biogeochemical Cycles, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Food security and avoiding land use change in Sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA) requires increasing agricultural productivity, necessitating greater fertilizer use. This may increase soil nitrous oxide (N2 ${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$O) emissions, a potent greenhouse gas.

Designing an Eddy Current Brake for Engine Testing

open access: yesKnE Engineering, 2020
An Eddy Current Brake (ECB) has several advantages making it suitable for using in a dynamometer for testing engines. In this paper, a model is presented which considers the electromagnet’s core saturation to predict the performance of an ECB. A design is then proposed for a dual coil, single rotor ECB that meets the design requirement to dissipate a ...

Eddies in Seasonally Ice‐Covered Fjords of the Northern Canadian Arctic Archipelago

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract We present the first direct observations of cyclonic passing and standing eddies within landfast ice‐covered fjords where wind stress is unavailable to drive the eddies. Using a series of winter and spring 2025 in situ observations from the northern Canadian Arctic Archipelago, we identify three baroclinic eddies beneath the landfast ice cover.

The Pan‐Genome of 1107 Spotted Sea Bass Accessions Reveals Gene Evolution Patterns During Domestication Selection

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 26, Issue 5, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Spotted sea bass (Lateolabrax maculatus) is an ecologically and economically important species that supports a large‐scale aquaculture industry in China. However, most farmed populations have not undergone systematic breeding programs and are characterised by undocumented empirical selection.

Modeling of a Dual Air-Gap Liquid-Cooled Eddy Current Retarder Considering Transient Permeability

open access: yesWorld Electric Vehicle Journal, 2023
This paper proposes a model for the electromagnetic performance of the dual air-gap liquid-cooled eddy current retarder (DAL-ECR) considering the transient permeability. First, the structure and working principle of the DAL-ECR are introduced.

The Interplay Between Sleep Disturbance, Glymphatic Dysfunction and Altered Brain Networks in Internet Gaming Disorder: A Multimodal Neuroimaging Study

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 31, Issue 7, July 2026.
This multimodal neuroimaging study explores the neurobiological mechanisms of Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) by integrating DTI–ALPS and resting–state functional connectivity. The findings reveal that individuals with IGD exhibit reduced glymphatic system–related function, which is significantly associated with poorer subjective sleep quality ...
