ABSTRACT Background and Aims Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lower respiratory tract, commonly caused by infection and associated with substantial morbidity and healthcare utilization. The burden of pneumonia on healthcare is exacerbated by limited data on pathogenic causes and associated antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Here, we conducted

Removal of Toxic Metabolites—Chelation: Manganese Disorders
ABSTRACT Manganese (Mn) overload is a characteristic of multiple disease entities, from acquired manganism upon environmental or occupational overexposure, to end‐stage liver disease and certain genetic disorders. The latter include hypermanganesaemia with dystonia 1 and 2 caused by pathogenic variants in the genes encoding the Mn transporters SLC30A10

Phosphate in Physiological and Pathological Mineralization: Important yet Often Unheeded
Phosphate serves as a building block for physiological mineralization, and as a signaling molecule that regulates the activity of mineralizing cells. The disturbance in these processes could induce a series of pathological mineralization, with abnormal mineralization of hard tissues and ectopic mineralization of soft tissues being the most ...

Cell‐Type Specific Circuits in the Mammillary Body for Place and Object Recognition Memory
Li et al. defined two novel glutamatergic neuronal subtypes in the medial mammillary nucleus, pars lateralis‐located parvalbumin (PV) neurons, and basalis‐located Drd2 neurons. PV and Drd2 neurons differ in their electrophysiological properties encoded by Kcnn4 and Cacna1h, and selectively modulate place and object recognition memory by two distinct ...

Pathomechanism of Thoracic Disk Herniation: A Postmortem Histological Study
Introduction Kokubun et al histologically demonstrated that herniated masses in all cases of cervical disk herniation contained cartilaginous endplate (CEP) fragments (Spine 1996).

Paramagnetic salt and agarose recipes for phantoms with desired T1 and T2 values for low‐field MRI
Recipes that use agarose mixed with one of four paramagnetic salts are developed (NiCl2 shown here), which can be used to create synthetic samples for field strengths below 0.55 T. The recipes' utility is demonstrated by targeting relaxation properties of five neurological tissues for fields ranging between 0.0065 and 0.55 T.

From 1992 through 2022, 754 patients were patch‐tested with ophthalmic medication series. Phenylephrine, povidone‐iodine and tobramycin were common culprits and essential for the increase in contact allergies throughout the study period. One‐third was diagnosed with allergic contact dermatitis, and the contact allergies were more prevalent among males ...
