Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Overview of fast particle experiments in the first MAST Upgrade experimental campaigns

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
MAST-U is equipped with on-axis and off-axis neutral beam injectors (NBI), and these external sources of super-Alfvénic deuterium fast-ions provide opportunities for studying a wide range of phenomena relevant to the physics of alpha-particles in burning

Electron Kinetics Inferred from Observations of Microwave Bursts During Edge Localized Modes in the Mega-Amp Spherical Tokamak [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2015
Recent measurements of microwave and X-ray emission during edge localised mode (ELM) activity in tokamak plasmas provide a fresh perspective on ELM physics. It is evident that electron kinetics, which are not incorporated in standard (fluid) models for the instability that drives ELMs, play a key role in the new observations.

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

Fuelling of deuterium–tritium plasma by peripheral pellets in JET experiments

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
A baseline scenario of deuterium–tritium (D–T) plasma with peripheral high-field-side fuelling pellets has been produced in JET in order to mimic the situation in ITER.

Testing and Modeling of Embedded Stainless Steel-Glass Connections

open access: yesChallenging Glass Conference Proceedings
Embedded stainless steel–glass connections are widely used in transparent structures, but their mechanical behaviour depends on stress transfer through polymer interlayers.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

First measurements of velocity-space resolved intra-ELM fast-ion losses on the TCV tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Edge Localised Modes (ELMs) induced fast-ion losses have been characterised in the energy, E , and pitch, $\lambda = v_\parallel/v$ , space using a unique Fast Ion Loss Detector (FILD) on the tokamak à configuration variable.

Electrical conductivity and optical properties of annealed (As2S3)1-xAgx alloys

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла
The paper presents the results of study of physical properties of synthesised by melt quenching and thermally annealed (As2S3)1-xAgx (0.04 ≤ x ≤ 0.40) alloys depending on the silver content.
