Wide edge state supercontinuum in a Floquet–Lieb topological photonic insulator
Conventional topological photonic insulators typically have narrow nontrivial band gaps truncated by broad dispersive bulk bands, resulting in limited edge mode transmission bandwidths that can be exploited for potential applications.

The H-mode Pedestal and Edge Localized Modes in NSTX [PDF]
The research program of the National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX) routinely utilizes the H-mode confinement regime to test and extend beta and pulse length limits. As in conventional aspect ratio tokamaks, NSTX observes a variety of edge localized modes (ELMs) in H-mode. Hence a significant part of the research program is dedicated to ELMs studies.

Edge Localized Modes as New Bifurcation in Tokamaks
A model of giant edge localized modes in tokamaks is developed. The theory of self-sustained turbulence of a current-diffusive ballooning mode is extended. A bifurcation from the H mode to a third state with magnetic braiding, the M mode, is found to occur if the pressure gradient reaches a critical value.

Edge Modes and Nonlocal Conductance in Graphene Superlattices [PDF]
We study the existence of edge modes in gapped Moiré superlattices in graphene monolayer ribbons. We find that the superlattice bands acquire finite Chern numbers, which lead to a Valley Hall Effect. The presence of dispersive edge modes is confirmed by calculations of the band structure of realistic nanoribbons using tight binding methods.

Visualization of core and edge MHD instabilities in 2D using ECEI
MHD instabilities in the core and edge of the KSTAR plasmas have been visualized in 2D using an electron cyclotron emission imaging (ECEI) system with sufficient time and space resolutions for the study of the underlying dynamics.

Localization of edge state in acoustic topological insulators by curvature of space
Topological insulators (TIs) with robust boundary states against perturbations and disorders have boosted intense research in classical systems. In general, two-dimensional (2D) TIs are designed on a flat surface with special boundary to manipulate the ...

Edge-localized-modes in tokamaks
Edge-localized-modes (ELMs) are a ubiquitous feature of H-mode in tokamaks. When gradients in the H-mode transport barrier grow to exceed the MHD stability limit the ELM instability grows explosively, rapidly transporting energy and particles onto open field lines and material surfaces.

Plasma performance and operational space with an RMP-ELM suppressed edge
The operational space and global performance of plasmas with edge-localized modes (ELMs) suppressed by resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs) are surveyed by comparing AUG, DIII-D, EAST, and KSTAR stationary operating points.
