Generalised threshold selection for edge detection

Pattern Recognition, 1988
Abstract This paper derives a generalised technique for selecting thresholds of edge strength maps from theoretical considerations of the known noise statistics of the image. A technique is described for estimating the mean and variance of the noise of an image using a pair of images.

Knowledge-based assistant for the selection of edge detectors

Pattern Recognition, 1998
Abstract This paper summarizes a system, called SED “Selection of Edge Detectors”, which is able to automatically select edge detectors and their scales to extract a given edge. The basic organization of the SED system is a collection of edge detectors within a knowledge structure made up of the characteristics of the given edge, the properties of ...

An experience on automatic selection of the edge detectors

Proceedings., 11th IAPR International Conference on Pattern Recognition. Vol. IV. Conference D: Architectures for Vision and Pattern Recognition,, 2003
Summarizes a system, called SED 'selection of edge detectors', which is able to select automatically edge detectors and their scales to extract a given edge. To avoid a combinatorial approach, the authors use several sources of information like the characteristics of the given edge, the properties of the detectors and the mutual relations between them.

Edge‐Selectively Functionalized Graphene Nanoplatelets

The Chemical Record, 2013
AbstractGraphene, as a single layer of graphite, is currently the focal point of research into condensed matter owing to its promising properties, such as exceptional mechanical strength, high thermal conductivity, large specific surface area, and ultrahigh electron‐transport properties.

Sensitivities of Band-Edge Selectivities

Analog Integrated Circuits and Signal Processing, 1999
Many filters have a band-edge selectivity (BES) that is a function of parameters other than filter order. In these cases, the band-edge selectivity can be maximized without increasing the order of the filter. However, in increasing BES, we must keep track of the sensitivity of BES to the parameters.

Selection of Mobile Edges for a Hybrid CrowdSensing Architecture

2019 IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC), 2019
Mobile crowdsensing aims at the collection of sensor data on the environment by leveraging personal devices, usually smartphones. Its popularity is due to the ability of reaching capillary even the most remote areas (provided humans live there), with no infrastructure costs.

Adaptive multidirectional edge directed interpolation for selected edge regions

TENCON 2011 - 2011 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2011
This paper proposes an adaptive edge-directed interpolation algorithm using multidirectional neighbor pixels. In order to restore multidirectional edges, a missing pixel is estimated as a weighted sum of 12 neighbor pixels. Based on the geometric duality between a low resolution image and a high resolution image, interpolation coefficients are ...
