Optimal Edge Selection by the Modified Genetic Algorithm

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1992
Abstract Path planning is an important task for optimal motion of a robot in structured or unstructured environment. The goal of this paper is to plan the shortest collision-free path in 3D, when a robot is navigated to pick up some tools or to repair some parts from various locations. To accomplish the goal, the Path Coordinator [1] is proposed to ...

Server Placement and Selection for Edge Computing in the ePC

IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, 2019
Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) has received much attention from the research community in recent years. A significant part of the published work has studied the telecom-centric MEC architecture, which assumes that the computing resource is located at the edge of the mobile access network (e.g., the Evolved Packet Core or ePC), typically at the first ...

A sharpness measure on automatically selected edge segments

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
We address the problem of image quality assessment for natural images, focusing on No Reference (NR) assessment methods for sharpness. The metrics proposed in the literature are based on edge pixel measures that significantly suffer the presence of noise.

Improving Automatic Edge Selection for Relational Classification

2013
In this paper, we address the problem of edge selection for networked data, that is, given a set of interlinked entities for which many different kinds of links can be defined, how do we select those links that lead to a better classification of the dataset. We evaluate the current approaches to the edge selection problem for relational classification.

Selective Etching of Graphene Edges by Hydrogen Plasma

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2010
We devised a controlled hydrogen plasma reaction at 300 °C to etch graphene and graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) selectively at the edges over the basal plane. Atomic force microscope imaging showed that the etching rates for single-layer and few-layer (≥2 layers) graphene are 0.27 ± 0.05 nm/min and 0.10 ± 0.03 nm/min, respectively.

Selective Edge Excitation — Inter-Edge Magnetoplasmon Mode and Inter-Edge Spin Diode

2007
The selective excitation and detection of quantum Hall edge states has opened access to several interesting phenomenons, two of which are addressed in this paper: Firstly we conducted time-resolved current measurements of edge magnetoplasmons. At filling factors close to ν = 3 we observe two decoupled modes of edge excitations, one of which is related ...
